Il Mattino ha L’Oro in Bocca
Episode 1 of Industry Season 3 titled “Il Mattino ha L’Oro in Bocca” (translated as Those who start off before others, catch the best opportunities) starts with Yasmin recalling her time on a yacht with her father and his rich friends.
She recalls seeing her father hooking up with a pregnant server in her room on the yacht and is disgusted.
The episode jumps to six weeks later where Yasmin is being hounded by the paparazzi because her father is in hiding after being booked for embezzlement.
At Pierpoint & Co, Yasmin sees her colleague, Sweetpea, who is also a social media influencer, reading an article about her where she is called their “Embezzling Heiress”.
Yasmin points out how the media is trying to portray that she is still rich while knowing she lives in a haggard house.
Yasmin feels less competent and is worried she will be fired. She calls an investor – James Ashford and tries to chat with him but learns that he is trying to reach Henry Muck, the CEO of an ESG (Environmental, social and governance) company – Lumi.
James refuses to work with Yasmin and asks her to get him in touch with Henry which pisses her off. Kenny shows up on the floor and talks to Yasmin about the IPO (Initial Public Offering) of Lumi.
At the same time, Robert is tailing Henry Muck when Yasmin calls him to warn him about James.
At Pierpoint London, Eric gets a warm welcome as the Head of Sales. At the meeting, the board members of Pierpoint discussed how Lumi’s successful IPO launch was important to them.
After the meeting, William asks Eric to fire Yasmin because of the bad press her family’s scandal caused. He tries to micromanage him into firing Yasmin which irks him.
Meanwhile, Henry is pissed off after his interview with the journalist about Lumi’s IPO. He talks to Robert about it and learns that Pierpoint has been trying to get Lumi’s IPO for the last 6 months.
At the same time, Kenny congratulates Eric about his promotion and the two chat about Yasmin. Kenny vouches for Yasmin and stands up for her. Yasmin tries to talk to Eric but he is nonchalant towards her.
James shows up at Lumi to talk to Henry, grilling him about his earnings report. The bankers at Pierpoint, especially Kenny and Yasmin are worried about Lumi’s IPO due to this report.
Eric asks Yasmin to keep a tab on James and try to make sure Lumi trades better on its IPO Launch the following day. He reminds Yasmin of how he fired Harper and asks her to conceal the issue.
Meanwhile, Harper is working as an Admin Assistant at FutureDawn, an ESG hedge fund. Yasmin calls her to get in touch with Harper’s boss – Anna.
Harper tries to get her boss Anna to buy more of Lumi’s stock before the IPO. Yasmin talks to Anna and asks her to buy more stock.
Anna realises that this means someone was backing out and concludes that something is wrong. Yasmin ends the call with Anna. Harper tries to talk to Anna but the latter ignores her comments and asks her to move her car from the car park.
That night, Yasmin is trying to cover up her window to avoid being photographed again and gets a call from Henry who invites her to meet him.
On the other hand, Harper is working late and tries to chat with Anna about Lumi’s IPO but Anna leaves. Yasmin gets upset with Robert for sharing her number with Henry.
Harper comes home with Dave and tries to get Yasmin to calm down. Yasmin is forced to go meet Henry. She tries to talk to Henry about James dropping out but the conversation is sidelined with Henry and his uncles playing squash.
The older men bring up Yasmin’s dad which upsets her. She is about to leave but Henry tries to apologise to her about his uncles’ comments.
One of the two uncles of Henry tries to invite Yasmin on a date but she refuses. The man tells Yasmin that his dad owes him money and threatens her to show up at his club. Yasmin is upset and tries to find a solution to her situation. Yasmin meets Denise, her lawyer and friend hat night and tries to tell her how the photo of her in a yacht was out of place because it was taken long ago.
She claims that everyone reading the article thinks she is still rich, trying to get the money that her father owes them. Yasmin spots Eric on a date with a woman who is not his wife.
Eric comes over and explains himself to Yasmin, stating he is no longer with his wife. Denise invites Eric to join them so they can get high together and he agrees.
The trio do some drugs at Denise’s office which helps Eric and Yasmin get close. Yasmin and Eric talk about her dad being MIA.
Eric tells Yasmin that he has to fire someone. He asks Yasmin to give them space when things escalate between him and Denise. That night, Robert goes to meet Nicole and has sex with her.
Robert and Nicole are lying in each other’s arms in post-coital bliss. However, Robert wakes up the following morning and is shocked to see that Nicole has passed away.
Robert calls Yasmin to share the news with her but cannot say the words out loud. Meanwhile, Yasmin is at work the morning after and Eric shows up there, wearing the same clothes from the night before. Robert shows up there and breaks down.
Eric asks Robert to get it together and forces him to go to the IPO meeting at Lumi. Eric returns to his desk and Kenny tries to talk to him about how dishevelled he looks.
Eric gets pissed and asks Kenny to walk with him to a conference room. He tells Kenny that he is being fired. Kenny threatens to cause a scene against Eric.
However, Eric threatens to expose Kenny’s past harassment of Yasmin instead. Kenny leaves and blames Yasmin for his firing.
Robert shows up at the Lumi IPO launch. The episode ends with Lumi going public but chaos is caused when there is a power outage both at Lumi and Pierpoint.
The Episode Review
This episode was a mess just like all the other episodes of the show have been. It is quite alarming to see Harper take the backseat this season with the focus being on Yasmin.
I am weirded out by Kit Harrington as Henry and he seems to be a maniac when it comes to being a boss. Nicole’s death was so out of pocket but I am sure this is going to change Robert.
From the way things have ended in this episode, it is clear that Eric is a mess and his split from his wife has caused him to make irrational decisions.
Firing Kenny was a decision he made out of his relationship with Yasmin and Denise but it is surely going to come back at him in the future.
The end of this episode was hilarious because what green energy-saving company has an outage on the day of its IPO Launch?
