Episode 5 The Loss

Episode 5 of India Police Force starts with Zarar preparing a bomb. He is on a phone call with Nafeesa but he acts quite distant. After the call, he tells Saeed to leave for Delhi and drop Imran and Shoaib on a 5pm bus to Darbhanga. He tells Sikku he will meet him at 6 at the railway station. If he does not arrive on time, Sikku is to leave anyway.

He then heads out on a scooty and tells the driver that he will blow up Goa, but naturally he doesn’t believe him. The money that Goldie had used to buy materials for the bomb was all fake. Tara, Kabir and the team leave to investigate the leads from Goldie, while the waiter at the restaurant identifies Shoaib and Imran.

After Kabir leaves, the two arrive at the same spot for some food again. Tara and Rana investigate a café in the market for some CCTV footage. She spots Zarar there. The waiter from the restaurant informs Kabir, and the message is passed to Tara before she can check on Zarar. She, Rana and the team leave, and so does Zarar after keeping the bomb there.

Sikku plants the bomb at a carnival ground but a police officer catches him. Just as Rana and Tara reach for the car, the café blows up. Tara and Rana leave after being informed of Sikku’s arrest. As Kabir approaches Shoaib and Imran at the restaurant, Saeed opens fire.

Kabir shoots him and follows after the duo. On the other hand, Tara and Rana find the bag that Sikku had planted. Sikku attempts an escape as Rana throws the bomb into the sea. Sikku is shot dead. Zarar boards the train as planned. Umaisa finds him and informs him of Sikku’s death. Shoaib and Imran give details of Saeed’s family. Moin hides from the police but someone calls him to follow.

The news of the Goa bomb blasts reaches Kanpur, where a middle aged man calls the police station and reveals that the terrorist killed in the blast is his son. The scene goes back 15 years where a staff members informs them about a riot outside and asks them to return home. A man with his two young sons makes his way out. He and his sons sit in a van and are taken to safety. Those young boys are Zarar and Sikku.

The man’s name is Nasir and he is Zarar and Sikku’s uncle. The one driving the van is Zarar’s father, Ansari. Nasir insists on going to the factory to get the documents and money. There is no word from Nasir, but Zarar’s father is ushered to the factory. Zarar follows and watches the fire eat up the factory and Nasir’s burnt body inside. Young Zarar’s days pass brewing in revenge. He finds an extremist group leader, Rafiq, who brainwashes his young mind.

In the present, Kabir receives a phone call with his mother discussing Sikku’s death. His parents are called to the hospital, and they refuse to claim his body. They say that they disowned their child the day he chose a path of hatred. Saeed’s wife is also called in for questioning by Tara, and as the episode concludes, she reveals Zarar and Nafeesa’s location.

The Episode Review

Episode 5 of Indian Police Force gives us a glimpse into Zarar’s childhood. We see what led him onto the path of terrorism. The episode also works to show how religion can be and is often misused to use people for selfish gains. We also see how the parents of such individuals are affected in the long run. They feel helpless and torn because of their parental love and their child’s misdeeds.
