You a Big Muthaf*cka
Episode 1 of I’m A Virgo shows Cootie, a child who is born with an abnormally tall height. He is loved, played with, and cared for by his parents. Cootie is unable to play outdoors with other children, so he spends all of his time reading “The Hero,” a superhero comic book.
Cootie’s parents are constantly doing house repairs because of his abnormal height. He learns about Jay Whittle, the author of “The Hero,” selling an unprecedented amount of copies one day as he watches the headlines with his parents.
When Cootie reaches puberty, he can no longer fit inside the house. His father builds him a large home as a result. He plays video games, watches films, and works out, however, he never ventures outside of his yard. While exercising one day, he overhears a man by the name of Lalo who wishes to speak with him.
He then invites Cootie to enjoy the most delicious tamales in Oakland. Lalo claims that Cootie’s dad enjoys eating the Bing-Bang Burger, despite the fact that his father forbids him from doing so. Cootie loses faith after learning this. He sneaks out of his room one night to go outside while posing as a bush. He soon runs into strangers. They give him the nickname “Twamp Monster” the following morning.
Cootie quickly meets some neighborhood boys who are employed in the auto industry. When they inquire about his size, he responds that it may be a sign that he could be a hero. His abilities astound Felix, Jones, and Scat, who invite him to go outdoors.
Cootie recalls that his parents have put restrictions on him up until his twentieth birthday because his dad thinks it will cause a big issue if anybody sees him and his mother refuses to allow him to go outdoors. Cootie, however, has a change of heart and declares, “I’m a Virgo, and Virgos love adventure.” They take a drive that evening, which Cootie finds enjoyable. He understands that no one can stop him from becoming great.
When Cootie gets home, his parents get upset with him. He starts arguing with them and accuses them of lying. After that, they show him a few articles about the reality where gigantic boys are either killed or die mysteriously. They claim that because society refuses to accept unusually tall men, they are attempting to assist him.
However, Cootie then goes to grab a Bing-Bang Burger. He ultimately purchases seven hamburgers, which he enjoys with his friends. Thereafter, he acknowledges just how terrible the burger is. They then visit a club where Cootie runs into Tabitha. However, she rejects him right away. Later, Cootie engages in a fight with a man.
As the episode comes to a close, we see The Hero communicating with AI and assessing the threat posed by the Twamp Monster. Meanwhile, Cootie’s father taps the wall on the opposite side to reveal a hidden shelf that has a large, enigmatic gun.
The Episode Review
I’m A Virgo episode 1 does a great job of setting up the plot and introducing us to it. The main character, who has spent his entire life living in his home due to his unusual height, is introduced to the audience. In addition, there are hints of absurdist humor in this episode, which is truly incredible.
The final moments of the premiere leave the audience in suspense about something unfathomable. Something that began as a sad tale about a boy imprisoned at home develops undertones of something else altogether. It will be intriguing to see how things develop going forward.
