How long is Alone in the Dark (2024) going to be? Number of hours revealed

Survival horror has seen somewhat of a renaissance as of late. From The Callisto Protocol and Dead Space across to Resident Evil and Alan Wake 2, there’s been a plethora of games to whet the appetite. One of the early titles in this field back in the day is Alone In The Dark. It’s perhaps no surprise then to see this one is on the verge of releasing a big remake.

How long is Alone In The Dark going to be?

Let’s jump right in. Alone in the Dark’s associate producer, Andreas Schmiedecker, has said ahead of release that the game will take between 6-10 hours to beat. However, we do know that those work on the game tend to inflate the play-time a bit so expect it to be less than that. We expect that playthrough to be between 4-7 hours.

Backing this up, some YouTubers have uploaded footage for the game early (which has subsequently been taken down) and their run-time has clocked in at around 4-5 hours for a single playthrough. This also includes the Prologue demo which came out several months back.

Is that it?!

Now, it’s worth bearing in mind that Alone in the Dark is unique in that it’s designed to be played through twice, once with each of the game’s dual protagonists – Comer’s Emily and Harbour’s Edward. Each story features different cutscenes and environments unique to that playthrough.

So depending on how quickly you get through the first time, you’ll need to double that total for the full experience. To be fair, there will be some puzzles that are repeated and you should be able to solve them quicker the second time around. In total, expect to spend around 10-16 hours if you’re looking to collect every achievement for this one.

Alone In The Dark is scheduled to release this Wednesday 20th March at approximately 5pm (GMT)/ 1pm (ET) for those looking to jump in from PC and at 12am (GMT) for those on console.
