Spoiler Warning/Victory Lapse
Hot Wheels Let’s Race Episode 5 begins with Dash briefing the kids about boosters and introduces Striker Spoiler. Striker compliments Coop as he is tied with Axel, making Axel jealous. The kids get ready for the training round.
Striker instructs them to go fast at the speed boosters, but Axel slides out of control. The other racers complete the task. He also disobeys Striker’s instructions on not stopping at the oil boosters. He ends up skidding out of control. Axel takes his hands off the steering wheel while on the jump boost, leading to his failure.
Axel gets jealous of Coop’s success and he uses his father’s spray cheese. Axel goes ahead and fills Coop’s car engine with spray cheese. Striker uses Coop’s car to demonstrate using the boosters, but the car begins to run out of control due to the cheese.
Axel panics seeing his father in danger and follows with his own car. Axel manages to use the boosters and overtake his dad before using the oil boost to spin his dad’s car and get rid of the cheese. The striker is eventually saved. Axel apologizes to Coop and forgives him, however, Dash takes away one point for the dangerous act he committed.
Following that, the main race begins. Coop takes the lead and uses his oil boost to slow Axel down and take a lead. He gets overconfident as he is much ahead in the race and fumbles. This causes him to land on the spoon of a giant ice cream glass. Unable to move, he is forced to watch the others overtake him.
He then realizes he has his carbonator. He uses his fizzy jet to propel him back into the race. He uses his boosters to overtake everyone and go neck-to-neck with Axel. Axel manages to cross the finishing line before him and claim victory.
Although Coop lost, he takes it in a positive light and decides to improve. Axel wins 5 flame badges for winning the race at the end of Hot Wheels Let’s Race Episode 5.
The Episode Review
This episode features the second race of the series. It begins with Axel’s father visiting them as a guest teacher. Getting frustrated with failing, he sabotages Coop’s vehicle. Unfortunately, Striker uses it for a demo and ends up in a very dangerous scenario. It portrays how bad malpractices can be, as we sometimes only know how harmful something is when it affects what we love the most.
In the second segment of the episode, we finally see the impact of overconfidence on the outcome of our actions. It teaches us that something isn’t over until it is really over.
