Hotel Cocaine – Episode 8 Recap, Review & Ending Explained

The Price 

In this recap for Hotel Cocaine episode 8, we pick up immediately with the armed men coming for Valeria and Andrew at the restaurant. In the background, Roman looks back at how he got to this point and the price of the pleasure that comes with getting high. Thankfully, Valeria and Andrew manage to escape Yolanda’s men and hide in a boat at the shore.

Does Roman find Valeria?

Roman loses his patience with Zulio and demands he finds Valeria. Zulio agrees on the condition that Roman secures the cocaine from the Colombians. He also informs Nestor that his immunity deal is off thanks to Peter.

After checking the port where Valeria was last seen, Zulio saves her and brings her to his house. He uses Valeria as a bargaining chip to get Roman and Nestor to stick to the deal with the Colombians.

Unfortunately, Yolanda learns that Zulio took Valeria and sends her men after him. The men kill Zulio’s wife and take Valeria. Once Roman learns the Colombians have taken his daughter, he sets out to save her. He calls Marisol and asks her to return and help Valeria.

What happens to Nestor after he loses the immunity deal?

Nestor reaches out to an old friend who is currently working for the CIA. The fiend helped him kill the Governor. He is also the man who trained Roman and Nestor back in their soldier days. Nestor promises to get Roman back to fight the good fight if he can get immunity. However, Roman blames the man for the death of his wife and has no plans to join him again.

Does the drug shipment arrive?

While Roman steps back to save his daughter, Burton and Nestor head to the sugarcane farm. Henao and Yolanda are already there, loading the shipment into trucks after helicopters dropped them. Henao and Yolanda are confident that the plan will go smoothly, but they have no idea what they are up against. Agent Zulio and his men descend on them.

Out of anger and grief, Zulio kills both Henao and Yolanda. He figures tit for tat is a fair game. They killed his wife, so he put two bullets on their heads. Unfortunately, he is arrested and charged with working with the late congressman to bring drugs into Miami. This was part of Nestor’s plan to save himself. He and Hal take the drugs and plan to use the money to finance their fight against Castro.

What happens after the deal goes Awry?

Roman manages to save Valeria and returns her to the mansion. On the other hand, Burton manages to save his club. He advises Candice to confess her feelings to Roman. Sadly, Roman turns her down and admits he still likes Marisol.

He convinces Marisol and Valeria that the past is behind them and they can go back to how things were before. He then proposes to Marisol, and she says yes. 

How does Hotel Cocaine end?

Roman believes that life is finally on track and starts planning his wedding. At the same time, Nestor and Hal try to convince him to work with them to fight Castro. At first, Roman is against the idea and insists he is done with the drugs and the Cuban war.

The episode ends with Hal giving Roman a picture taken recently in Cuba. The photo is of Estela and she is very much alive. 

The Episode Review

What a gripping finale this was! It was satisfying to watch Yolanda and Henao die at the hands of Zulio. Unfortunately, Zulio let his emotions take over, but he did a solid for Roman and Nestor.

Will he manage to get himself out of this fix and what will he do to Roman and Nestor for betraying him?  With Henao and Yolanda dead, Nestor will make a killing with the money from the drugs. He and Hal will use the funds to free Cuba, but can Hal be trusted? 

If Estela is alive, what has she been doing in Cuba? Why didn’t she contact Roman? How is she alive? What happens to Marisol and Roman? There are so many questions, but we will have to wait for season 2 to find the answers. 

At the end of the day, Burton saved his beloved club but will he be okay? He should probably ease off the drugs and take some time to figure things out on his front. He should reflect on Nestor’s speech about the price of fleeting pleasure. As for Janice, we hope she can find happiness with someone else. It was admirable of her to give up on Roman and sincerely wish him the best.
