Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!
In the first scene of Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable! Episode 1, the protagonist Shiki Tsubasa and his father are relocating from Tokyo to Hokkaido. His father messages him to go home, as he’s running late on account of a meeting. Shiki leaves the cab and makes his way on foot to his new home in Kitami.
Shiki meets a girl named Fuyuki while enduring the chilly weather. After asking her for directions, he finds out that walking home will take hours and that he’ll have to wait at least half an hour for a taxi. Being at the bus stop, she suggests that he join her on the bus. Additionally, Fuyuki gets extremely flirty with Shiki once she learns he has moved from Tokyo. Shiki finds the attention he’s getting from Fuyuki to be enjoyable as well.
The bus pulls up shortly after, and Fuyuki boards it. However, Shiki is so preoccupied with his thoughts that he forgets to board the bus, prolonging his ordeal in the snow.
The next day, Shiki arrives at his new school and, knowing that Fuyuki also studies there, searches the classroom for her. He begins to suspect that Fuyuki is in a separate class until she unexpectedly appears and takes a seat beside him. She then proceeds to tempt him all through class.
Fuyuki and Shiki go on a stroll home after school. She goes on to invite him to her home at a later time. Following that, we see Shiki take a movie Cassette to Fuyuki’s house. Shiki is relieved when Fuyuki falls asleep during the movie, since it’s an adult film.
Fuyuki wakes up and Shiki prepares to leave after the movie. The episode ends with Fuyuki offering to take Shiki out to eat as an apology for dozing off during the movie.
The Episode Review
Episode 1 opens with Shiki Tsubasa relocating from Tokyo to Hokkaido’s Kitami. A flirtatious girl named Fuyuki Minami helps him find his way when he gets lost. Minami extends an invitation to Tsubasa to spend time at her house after their second encounter at school.
Neither the plot nor the characters in this episode are that interesting or engaging. That said, in the show’s defence, it delivers what was advertised. Having said that, it appears that this won’t impress if you’re looking for depth or even a good time.
