Plot Summary
Hell Hole tells the story of an American fracking team who uncover the living, breathing body of a Napoleonic soldier when drilling in Serbia. This Frenchman isn’t all they discover. Living within him is a deadly parasite, which the team become aware of when it bursts forth from the soldier’s body and wreaks havoc among their number.
As the movie continues, all but a handful of the group are attacked and killed by this tentacled monster.

How does the movie begin?
Hell Hole begins with a scene set in 1814 where a group of lost and hungry Napoleonic soldiers are considering eating a horse. Before they can make a meal from this poor animal, the beast explodes, and the soldiers are then attacked by the tentacled monster that had been lying dormant within it.
In the present day, a fracking team, led by a woman named Emily, drill into the Earth and discover one of the French soldiers from the earlier scene. He’s miraculously still alive thanks to the cocooning embryo that held him. But he dies soon after when the monstrous critter that had been living inside his body bursts out and goes after its next host.
How does the movie continue?
As the movie goes on, the parasitic creature moves from one member of the team to the next. Interestingly, the only people it goes after are the men in the group. This is because it’s not compatible with women, which is something the team’s scientists discover later in the film.
After a bit of body-hopping, the monster ends up inside a guy named Luca. Knowing that he can’t return to his family without endangering them, he decides to kill both himself and the monster by drowning himself in the lake.
Unfortunately, his plan doesn’t work, as while he dies, the creature slips out of the water and into the body of Nikola, another member of the team. Understandably, Nikola’s not happy about this, but he doesn’t have to worry for long, as he is inadvertently killed by Sofija, one of his colleagues, who accidentally disembowels him when she stabs at the creature’s tentacles.
Following his death, the only man left standing is Teddy. He flees the scene, alongside Sofija, while the monster chases after them.
Is the monster alive at the end of the movie?
At the end of Hell Hole, we see Teddy relaxing in a bathtub while Sofija comforts him. While we’re never explicitly told this, it can be assumed the monster is living inside him. This is because we never got to find out where the monster went to after the carnage at the fracking site. As it needed a human host to survive, the only possible contender was Teddy, who presumably didn’t escape the creature.
As Teddy looks miserable at the end of the film, it can be assumed that he knows he is living with the monster.
