Heaven Official’s Blessing – Season 2 Episode 8 Recap & Review

Night Touring Green Lantern

Episode 8 of Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 begins with Hua Cheng taking on his San Lang disguise and blending in with the prisoners along with Xie Lian. Meanwhile, the scrap god wonders why San Lang wants Lang Qianqiu to meet the Green Immortal ghost, Qi Rong.

As the prisoners are taken in, there are talks of Qi Rong being a cannibal. There is a little boy and Xie Lian signs on San Lang’s palm that he wants to save the prisoners.

San Lang agrees but cannot help smiling while looking at his palm. As they reach the grand hall, they are shocked to see a kneeling statue of Xie Lian. In a flashback to Xian Le’s fall, the citizens blame Xie Lian and thrash his statues.

Qi Rong arrives while complaining about Hua Cheng and Pei Junior killing some of his minions. Xie Lian recognizes the ghost and even fondly compares him to Mu Qing and Feng Xin. However, San Lang is extremely agitated and almost explodes when Qi Rong rests his feet on the kneeling statue. The ghost continues to gloat over his plans on how he is manipulating and pitting the gods Quan Yizen and Pei Ming against each other.

Qi Rong gets hungry and one of the minions tries to take the kid’s father. San Lang interrupts and mentions Lord Anle which troubles Qianqiu. Qi Rong laughs in his face but not for long as San Lang attacks him. The minions start running away and there is mayhem. Xie Lian saves the kid who worries for his father. Meanwhile, San Lang cracks Qi Rong’s mask and throws him.

The ghost lands in front of the kneeling Xie Lian statue and his mask comes off at the end of Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 Episode 8. Underneath is the face of someone who looks very much like Xie Lian.

The Episode Review

Heaven Official’s Blessing Season 2 Episode 8 might be confusing for a lot of only-donghua watchers but bear with us as things are about to get a whole lot interesting. This episode is setting the foundation for the upcoming confrontation and it is all going to be extremely worth it.

Keep in mind Xie Lian’s fondness for Qi Rong which may be confusing for now but the fact that they look alike should be a hint. It is also interesting how Qi Rong’s plans give more insight into the other Heavenly Officials.

And hello, excuse me are we really getting HuaLian? San Lang’s small moments in this episode finally make his feelings for Xie Lian clearer which is surprising as none of this can be chalked off as bromance. Kudos to whoever got this past the strict censorship. From him blushing when Xie Lian touches his hand to being furious over Qi Rong’s treatment of the scrap god, HuaLian fans were fed well this episode.
