Burden To Bear

Episode 10 of Heaven’s Official’s Blessing Season 2 begins with Yong’an guests looking down on Anle but the King and Queen appreciate his efforts in hosting the banquet. He is annoyed that Lang Qianqiu is missing but plans to go ahead with the massacre.

In a flashback, Xie Lian as Fang Xin talks to the King about letting go of past grudges. Seeing Qianqiu grow up with Anle, the King hopes his son can break the cycle of Yong’an and Xianle animosity. He asks him to attend the banquet but Xie Lian refuses as he recalls his parents’ similar banquets and then their deaths.

Back to the banquet, Anle’s men turn green and strong (like Qi Rong’s minions). The massacre begins and though the King fights off everyone, he is caught by surprise when Anle betrays the Queen and stabs them both. Elsewhere, Qianqiu is busy buying a new hairpin for his mother.

Xie Lian gives in and arrives at the hall. Anle and his men escape upon seeing him. Shocked, Xie Lian tries to get a doctor but the furious and still alive King declares war on Anle and all of Xianle. On hearing this, Xie Lian deals the killing blow.

At present, Qi Rong finds it funny that Xie Lian ended up angering both sides. This just makes Qianqiu furious that everything he was taught was a lie. Xie Lian tries to reason with him that he did make a difference. Because he did not target Xianle after the massacre, the enmity between the clans is gradually reducing. However, it doesn’t comfort Qianqiu as it is at the expense of his parents. He slices Qi Rong into two and drops him in a boiling cauldron. 

Xie Lian worries for a second as he recalls a young Qi Rong looking up to his cousin. It cuts to Qi Rong crying as an adult and then condemning Xie Lian after the fall of their country. Hua Cheng points out that Qi Rong is not dead unless they destroy his ashes. Qianqiu declares he will do just that before he comes for Xie Lian.

After he leaves, Xie Lian is frustrated and angry that Qianqiu has found out the truth. Hua Cheng says the truth is important. However, the scrap god says it was always his burden to bear as he is the root cause of all of the events. Now, because of the truth, Xianle, Anle, Qi Rong, Yong’an and others are caught in the crossfire.

He lashes out at Hua Cheng, grabbing his collar before he comes to his senses and backs off. He thinks he is going insane at the end of Heaven’s Official’s Blessing Season 2 Episode 10.

The Episode Review

Oh boy, it is getting intense with Heaven’s Official’s Blessing Season 2 Episode 10. Gone are the days of fruity heavenly officials and ghosts, frolicking together across realms and dealing with mysterious creatures. It is getting heavy with all this philosophy and introspection. We knew Xie Lian had a reason for killing the Yong’an king and now here it is. 

Just like we predicted, he kills the King so that war is not declared on innocent Xianle citizens. With just an anonymous teacher to blame, this allows the two clans to slowly unite. And the fact that Hua Cheng has unravelled all that, even if in good faith, shows a new side to the sweet, forgiving and patient scrap god. We need more of unhinged Xie Lian which means we need that season 3 pre-fall Xianle TGCF arc to be renewed ASAP!
