Episode 6
Episode 6 of Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 begins with a flashback to Najin-infected Lady Maeda adopting Seung-jo. When he accidentally kills the help, she tells him that he should never be caught. To gain her approval and be comforted by her, Seung-jo does everything she asks including being experimented on by Kato and his men.
One day, he overhears Kato explaining his transformation to Maeda. Myeong-ja’s matured Najin changed the very make-up of Seung-jo’s DNA which is why he can partially transform, unlike the other Najins or the Anthrax-Najin monsters. Seung-jo finally realises that he is not special but just an experiment.
At present, he is having breakfast with Lady Maeda. She mocks him for meeting Tae-sang and gives him a vial which scares him. Alone, he frees Ahn Jong-hyeok who ends up killing multiple locals at the subway. Kuroko confronts Seong-jo who comments that he knows the captain’s plan.
At home, Tae-sang wakes up next to Chae-ok and they hug each other tightly. They are interrupted by Seung-jo who has news for them. On the TV, the news reports Jong-hyeok’s attacks as the cops struggle to cage him. Everyone is shocked including Mrs. Ahn. Seung-jo confesses that he freed Jong-hyeok to expose Jeonseung’s inhumane trials but Chae-ok doesn’t trust him.
At the police station, Yuh finally figures out that Jeonseung is somehow responsible for the serial murders. A flashback shows his meeting with Mrs. Ahn who berates him for targeting Tae-sang. We learn that Tae-sang had helped Yuh’s family and he knows all about him. Instead, Mrs. Ahn tells him to focus on finding her grandson who was hired by Jeonseung for a fake project.
Back to the present, Detective Noh is suspicious as Yuh and Mrs. Ahn are constantly defending Tae-sang. At that moment, he gets a call from Tae-sang who reveals that he has recovered his memories. They come to the same conclusion that Jeonseung is involved.
At that moment, Chairman Shin scolds Kuroko for letting Jong-hyeok escape. However, Kuroko blames Lady Maeda as she is obsessed with Tae-sang. He declares that Kato gave him the Najin to protect the company and he will do it even if it means he has to kill Chairman Shin and Lady Maeda.
Meanwhile, Tae-sang is getting ready to meet Jong-hyeok alone. He claims Chae-ok is injured but she points out that she has healed. She doesn’t accept his old mindset of the man protecting the woman and she states that as his woman, she will always be by his side. Tae-sang ends up blushing and agrees to bring her alone.
Seong-jo wants to join them and Tae-sang allows him as well. They are interrupted by Noh who alerts him that Jeonseung has arrived to take custody of Jong-hyeok.
At the station, the Kurokos weave an absurd tale that Jong-hyeok has contracted an infectious disease and they need to quarantine him. Yuh doesn’t believe a word but is forced to transfer custody as the higher-ups have given the green light. The Kurokos cover the CCTV and then inject Jong-hyeok with a similar vial before dragging him to their van.
Noh, Seung-jo, Chae-ok and Tae-sang notice the convoy and go after it. Noh hesitantly informs Yuh but he is all up for it as he officially orders her to follow the van. The cop who spun the outbreak story watches Yuh the whole time. Mrs. Ahn also shows up and begs Yuh to see her grandson. He is apologetic as he claims she can’t see Jong-hyeok at the moment.
Meanwhile, the convoy notices Tae-sang’s crew and splits up with Tae-sang going after Captain Kuroko, Noh following the van and Chae-ok and Seong-jo following the rest of the convoy.
Alone in the car, Seong-jo wonders if Chae-ok likes Tae-sang as much as he does. He also shares that Tae-sang was the first person to acknowledge him and he would die for him. A year ago, Tae-sang wanted to destroy all Jeonseung labs and Seong-jo was even ready to help him. However, he is ashamed that he never showed up.
A flashback shows Lady Maeda overhearing Seong-jo say that he would die for Tae-sang. He tries to defend Tae-sang but she is furious by his betrayal. She injects him with the vial which just so happens to put the Najin to sleep for 24 hours which means his regenerative powers are deactivated at the moment.
Completely human, Maeda tells him that he is free to do what he wants. Scared, he cuts his hand and sees that he is not healing. Afraid of dying, Seung-jo watches from the sidelines as the Kurokos take down Tae-sang and throw him from the bridge.
At present, Chae-ok assures him that Tae-sang will understand. However, Seong-jo suddenly crashes the car and injects her with the vial. She is shocked by his betrayal and he claims he will be killed otherwise.
Kuroko lures Tae-sang away and tries to sow doubt in his head by asking if he trusts Seong-jo with Chae-ok. He also points out that Tae-sang could have run off with her. However, Tae-sang declares that he will live his life after he takes down Jeonseung. Maeda is updated about the recent developments as Seong-jo attacks Chae-ok with his tentacles and Kuroko attacks Tae-sang.
At the end of Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 Episode 6, a flashback shows that Kuroko’s girlfriend is disabled. He asks her to stay strong for 3 months and he will then cure her. At the lab, he is told that Jong-hyeok’s Najin will be ready for transfer in 3 months.
The Episode Review
With Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 Episode 6, we are finally nearing the end of this horror K-drama. In comparison to the previous episodes, there is minimal action but more backstory so that we get an understanding of Seong-jo and Kuroko. But it is Seong-jo who steals the show in this chapter with his inner turmoil and his fears. But we doubt Chae-ok is going to die so easily as she has faced even worse odds in Season 1 when she was human.
The constant callbacks to the previous season also make it fun to notice the easter eggs. Previously, Chae-ok pushed Tae-sang out of the window while in Season 1 it was the other way around. And then there is Yuh and Mrs. Ahn. We kind of guessed that Mrs. Ahn is one of the child prisoners while Yuh’s family must have been involved with Tae-sang in some way.
