Gyeongseong Creature – K-drama Season 2 Episode 3 Recap & Review

Episode 3

Episode 3 of Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 begins with an injured Chae-ok struggling. Whenever the Najin is tired or injured, it needs to feed on humans. Chae-ok imagines killing the man next to her and rushes to her place to stop herself. She injects herself with something and it calms her down.

She finally notices that her bracelet is missing, the only thing she has of Tae-sang and she cries. As she is about to figure out her next move, she finds Ho-jae’s card that he has left behind – it has his Bugang Company’s address.

At present, Noh is listening via the bug but it isn’t much help as Chae-ok doesn’t give Ho-jae any information. She simply tells him to call Madam Na’s phone as the killer has it. At that moment, Seung-jo is loitering around the lab and Kuroko is annoyed with him.

Seung-jo continues to goad him and Kuroko points out that he performed surgery on Ho-jae because he got annoying, threatening to do the same to Seong-jo. Finally, Seong-jo brings out his ace card as he tells Kuroko about Silverbill. At that moment, Ho-jae calls him and they set up a meeting while Kuroko watches curiously.

Of course, Noh overhears via the bug and plans to tail them while Ho-jae ropes in a begrudging Yong-gil as their getaway driver. Elsewhere, the granny informant, Mrs. Ahn welcomes her grandson home. Ahn Jong-hyeok is disabled and tells her that he will be gone for a month for some training.

Back to our leads, they leave Yong-gil in the car and head into the abandoned building. Chae-ok keeps reiterating that Ho-jae should run on the first sign of trouble. As for him, he keeps pestering her for her name. She acts annoyed but she secretly finds him endearing.

Their bickering is short-lived as they are suddenly surrounded by multiple Najins and she realises it is a trap. As the Najins attack them, Yong-gil overhears the noise and tries to help but he is stopped by Seung-jo.

Inside, Chae-ok claims that Ho-jae is holding her back and she pushes him out of a window. While she takes on the horde, Ho-jae sees that Yong-gil has been knocked unconscious. Seung-jo greets him and wonders if Ho-jae has any old memories. A confused Ho-jae doesn’t have time to register as Seung-jo attacks him. The fight is short as Ho-jae is no match while Chae-ok is taken down with nitrogen and brought outside.

Yong-gil wakes up and is angry as the Najins had promised to leave the P.I.s alone. As for Ho-jae, he tries to crawl to Chae-ok as Seung-jo stabs her. Ho-jae suddenly sees a vision of Seishin stabbing Chae-ok. Seung-jo is about to kill him too but hesitates when he sees the scar on his neck. This gives Yong-gil time to run over the Najins and rescue Chae-ok and Ho-jae. An amused Seung-jo stops his men from following as he believes that Chae-ok’s creature will kill them to heal herself.

Right on time, a hungry Chae-ok wakes up in the car and crashes it as she tries to get away from the men. Ho-jae follows her while she begs him to stay away. However, he hugs her as he suddenly gets a vision and calls out her name. She cries and hugs him back.

At the end of Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 Episode 3, Noh finally arrives at the site of the car crash. A heavily injured Yong-gil and Ho-jae are lying unconscious, there is a bloody bat between them and Chae-ok is missing.

The Episode Review

Gyeongseong Creature Season 2 Episode 3 makes us realise just how fast-paced this K-drama has become. It wastes no time in having the antagonist clash with everyone and make good on his threats of trying to kill Chae-ok. The fight scene particularly in the abandoned building is pretty cool with the way it is shot, complete darkness with only their torch lights portraying the Najins as a horde of spiders.

We also can’t help but notice all the Physical 100 contestants that are getting their time to shine as we now have Season 1’s Kim Kang-min as the big scary Najin who beats Chae-ok and has beef with Seung-jo.

Oh, and now we are even more sure that Ho-jae and Tae-sang are the same person. How else can he get visions of Seishin and Chae-ok? It is very likely that he ended up in Kato’s lab and became a Najin till Kuroko operated on him, took out the Najin and erased his memories. And Yong-gil is super suspicious, how is it that he is dealing with Maeda and Seung-jo?

While the K-drama’s Season 1 is still pretty iconic and can’t seem to be replicated, we kind of prefer Season 2 Chae-ok. In Season 1 she is sort of one note, focused on being a righteous and cold person who wants to save her mother.

But Season 2 Chae-ok has more layers, quite similar to Han So-hee’s character in My Name. Her inner conflict as she is constantly drawn to Ho-jae but the need to get away from him as he reminds her of Tae-sang is bittersweet to watch. Wonder how she will react when she learns Tae-sang and Ho-jae are one and the same.
