Elite – Season 8 Episode 6 “Guilty” Recap & Review

Guilty

The recap of Elite Season 8 Episode 6 begins with Omar healing and coming home to find it empty. He texts Joel who is lying dead in the Alumni club. Emilia tries to comfort a crying Hector who can’t remember anything. He believes he has killed Joel out of jealousy.

The cops detain the students and as the group recount the night before, we learn that Sara and Nico saw Dalmar and Ivan going to meet Joel. However, Nico suspects Eric as his knife is the murder weapon. Eric is hurt and Nico backtracks that Chloe must have manipulated him into killing Joel which doesn’t earn him any points from his cousin.

In the classroom, a Detective Luena grills Dalmar and Ivan. Dalmar tells them about the orgy and Ivan corroborates. 

On learning that Joel is dead, a distraught Omar believes that the Alumni killed Joel. Omar confronts Emilia but she pins it on Dalmar, saying they were hookers. Omar seems to buy it as he is shocked by the revelation.

Isa protests on behalf of Ivan and Sonia calls her out for abandoning Dalmar. But the group reasons that they can use Ivan’s popularity to get him out. Chloe wants to help spread the protest online but her phone is missing.

At that moment, the Alumni double down by using the race card to make Dalmar the scapegoat. This makes Omar furious as Principal Virginia who is also Black stays silent.

Meanwhile, Carmen shows up to help free Ivan. She promises to bail him out but when Ivan asks her to do the same for Dalmar, she claims that she doesn’t have the money. But she promises to help Dalmar. Of course, her help includes making Dalmar sign a false confession so that her son goes free. In exchange, she will take care of his family. She also shows him the hate he is getting online for supposedly killing a White student. Dalmar is furious and refuses.

He suddenly connects the dots as he tells the cops about Joel blackmailing Carmen which is why Chloe and Eric jumped him at the orgy. Luena is convinced by this theory but needs to find a witness to back up Dalmar’s claim.

Elsewhere, Nico and Sara hook up but the former is worried for Eric. Sara keeps pestering him and he tells her about the video of Carmen killing Raul. At that moment, Sonia remembers drones at the keg party and catches the owner. They find footage of two people coming from the Alumni club’s direction and carrying a huge bag. It cuts to Emilia coddling Hector when he starts doubting her sudden kindness. He assumes that she was jealous of him and Joel and so killed the boy.

Omar and Sonia show the cops the drone footage as they reason that Joel must be in the bag and the two people carrying it are Hector and Emilia. However, it doesn’t matter as the cops reveal that Dalmar has confessed to killing Joel. And that is the end of Elite Season 8 Episode 6 recap.

The Episode Review

Elite Season 8 Episode 6 reminds us of the good old days when in the earlier season we would have the likes of Guzman and Samu trying to unearth the murders. This time, the assumptions are more clear-cut as one side believes the Alumni killed Joel while the other side believes that Chloe and Eric killed him. It doesn’t help that Eric’s own cousin, Nico doubts him.

But this also makes it easier to follow the plot now while the first half of this season felt quite haphazard and messy. Dalmar and Carmen’s back and forth turns out to be a set-up for the false confession. Omar’s random beef with Hector pays off as it adds more mystery to Joel’s death. And there is the whole incest angle, which we find icky but makes sense as to why Emilia murdered Joel if she is the one who did it.
