Green Day – Dilemma | Single Review

Straight off the bat, Green Day front-man Billie Joe Armstrong searches for clarity on the band’s single Dilemma. The song isn’t as direct as previous singles, with the guitar not limited to power chords, as the band utilise more of a complex structure.

Lyrically, Billie Joe has penned a statement of intent, carrying his burdens as he sings with some rage and desire. He breaks into song naturally, trying to escape his demons, even though they come back with vengeance.

The track does well to bring Green Day back into the light. It’s an emotional song that doesn’t suffer from cliches. Structurally, the song is well-made, with bashful drumming from Tre Cool and those breakneck bass lines from Mike Dirnt pushing the track forward commandingly.

Ultimately, this is a well-rounded single, properly gnarly and straight out of Billie Joe’s adept mind. He has written it with sincerity, letting the world know his problems head-on.
