Grayscale is a band to consider. Their album The Hart is a triumphant, emotional, depiction of regret and sorrow. From the start of the record to its conclusion, the songs all come together like a novel written with eagerness and ambition. The act desires hope when it seems to be breaking and cutting deeply into itself. While they sing and play, it’s clear they’re not fully happy about the state of the world and society.

The album is guitar-driven and expertly drawn to the indie scene, the rock equation. The arrangements are brilliantly constructed too. The band knows they’ve struck gold with this record, as every song interweaves together to create boundless energy and a structured concept.

‘Kept Me Alive’ is a guitar explosion and the vocal work is sensational, with that chorus soaring into different dimensions. The quick-fired instrumentals are superb, and the lyrics tell us that there is a guardian angel.

‘Through The Landslide’ begins with a fuzzy guitar segment and the percussion gives the song a boost, while the vocals are rage-fueled. It is another energetic, but emotional slice of rock music with a punch.

‘Don’t Leave Me In The Dark’ is an emotional song, and a poignant look at love gone dark. It’s a wonderful track that showcases the band’s adeptness at designing well-rounded tracks that are timeless.

‘Painting Over You’ is another dreamy track, a blissful exploration of love that has crumbled. The instrumentals here are engaging, and the song ticks all the right boxes.

With this album, Grayscale has created a brilliant record that shows their emotions haven’t run dry.
