Good Partner – K-drama Episode 4 Recap & Review

Show – Recap

We start our ‘Good Partner’ episode 4 recap and review with Eun-kyung asking Yu-ri to fight her case against her husband and Choi Sa-ra. She’s compiled all evidence, from text messages to their wedding photographs, and explains that she’d held onto the evidence so she did not have to divorce her husband since the guilty cannot file for it. However, now, after seeing the couple together, she’s ready to fight the case and wants to make it the best divorce trial of the nation.

The next day, Choi Sa-ra receives a court notice and finds that Eun-kyung knew about the affair after all. Likewise, her husband also gets the shock of his life with the evidence attached to the lawsuit. Later, Yu-ri is curious about why Eun-kyung wanted her to represent her, and Eun-kyung explains that she values her different perspective.

Right after, they meet their client, a CEO of a listed company, who is fighting a divorce case where his former wife has been asking for a division of his company shares even though the two got separated unofficially before the company had been listed.

Meanwhile, Eun-kyung’s husband and Sa-ra compel a senior attorney, who specializes in criminal cases, to deal with their divorce case since Eun-kyung has connections with the divorce attorneys in the nation. Eun-kyung’s husband, Ji-sang, wants custody of their daughter.

At the court case of the CEO’s divorce, the evidence proves to be a disadvantage to the CEO since he’s been sending monthly money to his wife even after they’d separated. Later, it’s revealed that he wanted to take responsibility for his family as the “breadwinner.”

Eun-kyung asks him to not only stop sending his wife the money but also accept that they’re not family anymore, highlighting that he’d “chained himself to these terms.” Later, Eun-kyung shifts the court case date so their client’s youngest daughter can testify for them when she becomes a legal adult.

Eun-kyung asks Yu-ri to pick her daughter up as she has an appointment. Yu-ri reluctantly does but is amused to see how much her daughter is like her mother even though she wants to be like her father. It’s also revealed that she’s aware of the divorce. Later, Yu-ri meets with Eun-ho. They have too much to drink and wake up together the next morning in a motel. Yu-ri sneaks out, leaving Eun-ho there sleeping. Out of sheer awkwardness, they avoid each other as much as possible.

Eun-kyung’s divorce news gets published on the internet and has the CEO of the law firm angry over the company’s reputation. But Woo-jin takes care of the issue. Later, Eun-kyung meets with her husband and declines to settle the case. During their conversation, he emotionally blackmails her and puts her down, terming her an absent mother and questioning her motherhood.

Later, since the CEO’s wife visits the company wanting to settle, the man is unsure if he should pursue the case further but also doesn’t want to divide his company shares which he painstakingly built for decades. At the final hearing, Eun-kyung and Yu-ri submit a handwritten confession from the couple’s youngest daughter who mentions how her parents had separated before the company was listed. And with this, they win the case.

While having dinner together, Eun-kyung says that she will never let her husband have her assets. The next day, Yu-ri comes to Eun-kyung’s office, flustered at the court notice she’s received which terms Woo-jin as Eun-kyung’s office husband and implies that she was already having an affair. The episode ends with Yu-ri entering Eun-kyung’s room to find her and Woo-jin in a compromised position.

The Episode Review

We absolutely love Jang Na-ra’s character as Cha Eun-kyung! Unlike her previous roles, say ‘Sell Your Haunted House,’ for instance, Cha Eun-kyung is equally sassy, funny, and charming. She’s always been one of the top-rated Korean stars, but we couldn’t praise her enough for this particular role up until now.

‘Good Partner’ comes off as a pleasant surprise as one of the entertaining K-dramas with a good mix of humor, romcom, slice of life, and melodrama, and it really shows with how the show has been progressing. We particularly like the sunbae-hoobae relationship that Eun-kyung and Yu-ri are developing, despite their differences.

The cliffhanger is not so much a cliffhanger since we know that accusations of infidelity against Eun-kyung are false, but we are excited for the new developments in the next episode! And with this, our recap of ‘Good Partner’ episode 4 comes to an end. We will meet you in the next one!
