Episode 15
Episode 15 of Good Partner begins with Eun-kyung’s new client wanting a divorce from her husband, citing sexual dysfunction as a reason. On the other hand, the husband, who is Yu-ri’s new client, wants a divorce, claiming his wife’s sex addiction is the issue. Both individuals want the upper hand over the other and pressure their attorneys to file the case. Yu-ri and Eun-kyung are unaware that they are representing opposing sides until Eun-kyung discovers it in the case file.
The wife submits a phone call recording as proof of her husband denying sexual intercourse in their marriage, which could be grounds for divorce. In response, the husband submits a recording of his wife demanding sex instead.
Later, Eun-kyung meets with Yu-ri, bothered by Yu-ri’s claims of portraying the wife as a sex addict. It seems like the sunbae-hoobae pair is about to clash in court, but they decide to attempt settling the case and persuading their clients. Eun-kyung comically vents to Woo-jin about Yu-ri, and Woo-jin encourages her to hire more people to help with her workload. Eun-kyung agrees.
Meanwhile, Eun-ho takes time off work to visit his parents at Woo-jin’s suggestion, as he’s been feeling confused about his career path. When he tells Yu-ri, she seems sad about not being able to have meals with him for a while and often waits for his text messages.
At the court mediation, it’s clear that the couple is locked in a battle of pride, each wanting to gain a legal victory. As the settlement fails, they decide to take the matter to court.
While counseling their respective clients, Eun-kyung and Yu-ri discover that the real issue isn’t about sex, but the wife wanting children, while the husband doesn’t. His reluctance stems from financial concerns, as they are a single-income household, and he is worried about the costs of raising a child. However, both of them are too prideful to have an open conversation about their differences.
Eun-kyung and Yu-ri set up a meeting for the couple to talk honestly, and they realize that their point of contention is indeed children. In a final settlement meeting, they agree to divorce due to their differing preferences regarding having children.
Yu-ri returns to the office, where she learns that Eun-ho has decided to leave the firm. She is saddened by his sudden departure. Later, it’s revealed that Eun-ho has left to join Eun-kyung at her practice! In a flashback, we see that Eun-kyung visited Eun-ho at his parents’ home and convinced him to join her while he was struggling with an existential career crisis.
When Eun-ho joins Eun-kyung, it’s like a breath of fresh air. He sets up the firm’s social media, fixes minor office issues, and helps bring in more clients. It’s revealed that Woo-jin recommended Eun-ho to Eun-kyung when she was looking to hire because Eun-ho excels at closing divorce cases through mediation.
Woo-jin and Eun-kyung later set up a dinner for Eun-ho and Yu-ri to talk about their feelings for each other. They’re awkward throughout the meal, and just as they’re about to part ways, Yu-ri suddenly hugs Eun-ho and agrees to try dating.
The episode ends with Woo-jin’s father, the former CEO of Daejeong, asking Eun-kyung to take over his case.
The Episode Review
Just as Good Partner is nearing its conclusion, it returns to its reliable formula of relatable and entertaining cases. Eun-ho’s story finally takes center stage, and many viewers can relate to his confusion about his career path at the age of 30 and his decision to leave the firm to figure things out on his own.
This episode also ties up the Eun-ho and Yu-ri romance arc, which, although a bit rushed, provides a satisfying conclusion to their ongoing tension. However, the show does oversimplify their romantic dilemma, especially in Yu-ri’s case, where she conveniently seems to have forgotten her initial opposition to marriage.
Hopefully, the finale will delve deeper into her change of heart. Other than this, the episode still remains enjoyable.
