Glamorous – Season 1 Episode 9 “Come Thru” Recap & Review

Come Thru

Episode 9 of Glamorous Season 1 begins with Marco doing a vlog on how to clean a make-up mess. If only it will be so easy to clean the other mess in his life! He is not the only one rethinking his decisions lately, Venetia can’t reach Mykynnleigh, Chad is reconsidering his relationship with his mom and Madolyn still has a big decision to make.

In a rather shocking twist, Marco is still with Parker, sigh! Things are still tense between them and Parker insists he got jealous because he cares. He invites Marco to a work event and asks him to tone down his outfit. Marco feels like he shouldn’t have to but Parker turns the table on him and makes him think that it is necessary.

Meanwhile, Madolyn begins to miss Teddy and sends him a message of apology asking him to come back.

There is excitement in the office as Madolyn is on her way. Chad wants to know where her mind is. Marco is not revealing anything which is making Chad antsy. Madolyn arrives and finally tells Chad that they will be taking the deal. Chad is elated and thinks it is the right choice. Madolyn asks him to handle Mykynnleigh with Venetia. Chad is hoping to get the company the new deal before he informs his mom that he is leaving. At least, that is what he tells Julie.

Venetia is also struggling with knowing her position within the company. She is unable to reach Mykynnleigh even after leaving her numerous voicemails and Madolyn is not eager to talk to her. She is not sure she can fix her mistakes with Madolyn but doesn’t know what to do next.

Marco, on the other hand, can’t find Ben who is on sick leave. Britt scolds him for hurting Ben and asks him to fix their issues. Julie interrupts their conversation to remind Marco they need some mother/son time. Marco attempts to turn her down because he has plans with Parker. His mom is offended that Parker is more important to Marco than her. She makes it clear that she will see him there whether he likes it or not.

Finally, Mykynnleigh shows up and has a meeting with Venetia and Chad. However, Mykynnleigh informs them that the deal won’t go through. Vendemiaire is backing out. It turns out that she has been working on a plan B. Vendemiaire is going into the beauty business with new products and guess whose formula they are ripping off? Venetia has some explaining to do! Lucky for her, Chad is not on her trail yet and thinks Vendemiaire reverse-engineered their formulas.

Madolyn is crushed and Chad informs Venetia that it is over for them. They might as well be cancelled in this era! Venetia confesses to Britt what she did and tries to explain why she sold out the company.  Venetia thinks she should confess to Madolyn but Britt asks her to think it through.

Marco talks to Madolyn about his experience and what he has learnt. Marco realized that he is scared and is using make-up to hide his fears. Madolyn confesses that she is also scared but as they talk, Madolyn gets an idea. She heads out to meet Teddy and apologizes for doubting him. However, Teddy refuses to go back to how things were.

Chad is also taking the dooming news hard and Julie tries to comfort him. Julie advises him to tell his mom that he was leaving. It is a way for him to break out of his innate need to seek her approval.

At the end of the day, Chad, Venetia and Marco decide to drown their sorrows in alcohol. Dizmal is sad to hear they are running out of business and has the idea to start stocking up on the products before the company closes. Dismal’s idea inspires Venetia with a plan to save the company.

They hurry to pitch the idea to Madolyn and get her approval. Glamorous by Madolyn is going organic after selling all its current stock. Chad is hoping this will give them the cash infusion to launch an all-organic beauty company. The formulas are ready because Venetia has been working on them.

Madolyn agrees to the idea and they set up a live stream to announce the new direction the company is taking. They announce a special sales pop-up with Madolyn showing up in person to say goodbye to the old products and usher in a new era.

Chad finally talks with his mom and informs her that he is leaving after stabilising the company. At first, Madolyn thinks he is kidding but he explains that he is tired of living in her shadow. Madolyn is sad to see him go but wishes him well.

With the sales pop-up, Marco tells his mom that he can’t make it to watch Wicked with her. He is hoping they can go another night but his mom tells him that she is leaving for Phoenix. She has been looking for a new job and finally got one. Marco is saddened but Julie assures him that he will be fine without her. Julie thinks he is ready to be an adult and believes in him.

The special sales pop-up starts and Madolyn flakes out. Chad recruits the help of Teddy to find her. He finds her at home feeling blue about Chad leaving the company. Madolyn is realizing that she focused too much on the legacy, she is losing the people around her. Venetia is practically a stranger to her after their last fight, Teddy left and Chad is on his way out. Teddy reminds her that she is not alone and drives her to the event.

The team get back on track and the sale is a success. Mykynnleigh shows up and Venetia worries that Mykynnleigh will spill the truth.  Madolyn asks how she got the formulas and Mykynnleigh blames it all on James.  Marco finds a young boy who reminds him of his younger self and makes his dream of meeting Madolyn true.

After the event, Madolyn is pleased to have had a successful event, and is also happy to see Teddy is back.

Marco finally gets his head straight and dumps Parker before heading out to meet his mom. Meanwhile, Venetia visits Madolyn and comes clean about what she did.

The Episode Review

It looks like everyone is getting their moment of clarity after dodging the recent crisis. I am glad Marco finally saw the light before it got too late. It is sayonara Parker, and hello to new beginnings.

I am proud of Chad, he stood his ground and is ready to spread his wings. He may have no sense of humor but he is still a filial son any mom would be proud to have.

I will give credit to Venetia for owning her mistake and coming clean. We all know Mykynnleigh is not to be trusted and she was going to use this secret to blackmail Venetia in the future.  Mykynnleigh is a snake through and through.

The only thing I am disappointed about in this episode is Teddy and Madolyn. Why can’t they cross that narrow line and find happiness together?
