Glamorous – Season 1 Episode 6 “We Are at Capacity” Recap & Review

We Are at Capacity

Episode 6 of Glamorous Season 1 begins with Chad trying to motivate the staff to get ready to redo the whole campaign again. With only seven days left to deadline, the staff will have to put in a lot of late nights. Even though they work around the clock, they still find themselves stuck.

By day five, the morale is down and everyone is stretched thin and on the brink of a meltdown. By day 7, they are all praying that Madolyn will give her approval and set the ball in motion – but that doesn’t happen. However, Madolyn believes they are close to whatever ‘it’ thing she is looking for.

Chad is worried that they are nearing the deadline with only a few hours left. If they miss this campaign then it is bye-bye to Glamorous by Madolyn and the legacy is gone. Chad tries to get Madolyn to see why they need to get the campaign ready but Madolyn won’t give up on perfect. This makes Chad feel like his mom is not grateful for his efforts and points out that the company needs him to do the things most people don’t want to do.

Elsewhere, Ben is giving Marco the cold shoulder after learning about Parker. He feels like Marco jerked him around and played with his feelings. Britt advises him to try and be friends with Marco but Ben is feeling too hurt to do that.

Marco’s mum, Julie notices that has been a tad sad and tries to take care of him. She suggests he goes home with her but Marco refuses and offers to get her some coffee. However, the delivery is too backed up so he has to get the coffee himself. Marco has been avoiding going downstairs because he is scared of running into Parker.

As his mom points out, he can’t hide forever so he goes to the cafe himself. While there he runs into Parker who is apologetic and wants a second chance. Marco insists that he was hurt by Parker’s behaviour towards him and won’t forgive him even if he sends his favourite drag queen with flowers to apologize.

Meanwhile, Chad ambushes Venetia in the bathroom to ask her to reign Madolyn in. Venetia refuses and insists she believes in Madolyn. Chad accuses her of only caring about her promotion and leaving him to be the bad guy. He tries to blackmail her by mentioning her plan to get hired by Revlon.

The only person taking care of Madolyn is Teddy. He is always there to give his opinion and listen to her. He is also a great advisor. Speaking of James, he shows up to remind Madolyn about their breakfast and is not pleased to see Teddy already took care of that.

Later, Venetia talks with Britt to see if she is making the wrong choice to believe in Madolyn. It seems like Chad got to her and she is worried the company will go down. However, Madolyn has another update and she feels they are getting closer. Chad has a breakdown with only 15 hours to go and decides to go on a strike. He is scared they won’t make the deadline because Madolyn is a little indecisive about what the campaign should be. As Chad downs his tools, the rest of the staff stick it out to get the campaign right.

Venetia suggests that Madolyn should be part of the modelling and coach the drag queen who she picked to model.  Venetia gets a message from Mykynnleigh asking to meet. Mykynnleigh suggests that Venetia should come up with a plan B just in case. This means going behind Madolyn’s back and Venetia is offended. She turns down Mykynnleigh’s idea and offer of a promotion but the idea is already planted in her head.

As the staff work and wait around for Madolyn to approve the campaign ideas, Marco tries to get close to Ben. He asks the latter to help him with the phone as a ruse to get them closer. He is wondering what he did to make Ben pull away. After a while, Ben tells Marco that he knows about the other man and he is hurt. Ben still insists they can’t be friends, making it clear that he wants Marco and can’t settle for only being friends.

Concurrently, Madolyn tries to coach the new models and get the right vibe she needs. The photos are good but not great so that means that they still have to redo it. This is Venetia’s breaking point, she asks Britt to prepare the backup just in case Madolyn fails to deliver.

Julie tries to get Chad to sign some documents and realizes Chad is striking to prove a point o his mom. He wants her validation and a sign that she needs and loves him. Julie asks him to consider if he is in the company for the right reasons. I feel like Julie is the only one who understands Chad. I wish Madolyn tried to appreciate him more. Unfortunately, she decides she won’t fold and Chad continues on his one-man strike.

As Madolyn tries to save her company, James and Teddy have a talk. James is feeling insecure and thinks Teddy is in love with Madolyn. Teddy assures him that they only have a friendship and they are also both professional. This helps James feel secure in his relationship with Madolyn, he is one of the few men who have managed to stay for a while.

Britt prepares Plan B as Venetia asked but is hesitant to give the USB to Venetia. She warns her that going through with it behind Madolyn’s back will be a  betrayal. After listening to Britt, Venetia decides to talk with Madolyn and tell her that she has been preparing a backup plan. Madolyn is angry at first but is glad Venetia brought up the matter first. As they talk, they realize what is missing in the campaign.

They decide to recreate the magical moment Madolyn had at the gay bar. Venetia destroys the USB and fully backs Madolyn’s idea. They all get to work and it is full steam ahead. Of course, there are a few hiccups but the team work hard to get over them. Even Chad calls off his strike and gets his head back in the game. After all is said and done, the campaign is a great success.

They manage to meet the deadline and deliver an epic Pride campaign with Madolyn being a part of it. She has not modelled for 20 years and it is bound to create buzz that she is back.

Madolyn decides that maybe it is time to promote Venetia. The team stays back to celebrate and Venetia gives Britt her door code as a sign that she is fully committed to their relationship.

Julie talks with Chad who tells her that he is leaving the company once the sale is done. Marco confides in Ben about how Parker treated him badly and apologizes. Ben invites him over to his place and they end up having sex.

The next day, Marco gets home to find his favourite drag queen in his room with yellow roses as an apology from Parker.

The Episode Review

Marco is getting on my nerves, why did he sleep with Ben when he knows he is not over Parker?! Can’t he be confused without hurting others? I understand that Parker is his first love but Marco is being selfish. What will he do now after the grand gesture Parker managed to pull? Also, do you think Parker deserves a second chance?

Britt keeps talking Venetia off the ledge every time. Venetia is lucky she has such a good girlfriend.

Lastly, Chad is expecting too much from his mom and is not telling her what he needs. His mom is not a mind reader, he should try and be more open to her. Should he leave the company? Maybe, I think it will be good for him to reassess what he truly wants with his life. In the end, it is his life and he should do what he wants away from the shadow of his mom. There is nothing wrong with spreading his wings in another company where he will be more appreciated.
