The Work Retreat

Episode 4 of Ghosts Season 4 begins with Hetty and Sasappis feeling jealous of Pete’s ability to leave the mansion. They start a rumor that Pete’s girlfriend, Donna, doesn’t actually exist.

Meanwhile, Trevor reveals to Sam and Jay that he had been working as a financial analyst on the dark web, and his team is organizing a work retreat. He needs one of the living to pretend to be him—namely, Jay. Sam and Jay agree to host the meeting at Woodstone, with Jay posing as Trevor’s online persona, “Michael Jackson.”

When the team arrives, Sam conveys Trevor’s messages to Jay, who converses with the group through a Bluetooth earbud. During the meeting, Jay decides to improvise, but Trevor soon discovers that his team thinks he’s outdated and uncool. This disappoints him, as the job has been a way for him to feel alive again.

Eventually, he learns he’s actually idolized in the financial community for helping a colleague during a hazing ritual by giving him his pants and money. This realization makes him happy and satisfied, and Jay, along with his “workplace homies,” fulfills a tradition of running around without pants to honor Trevor’s legacy.

Meanwhile, as the rumors about Donna spiral, Hetty and Sasappis decide to reveal the truth to Pete. Pete realizes how condescending he’s been, boasting about his ability to leave the mansion to those who don’t have that privilege. The episode ends with the ghosts discovering that Donna was, in fact, a cold-blooded murderer when she was alive!

The Episode Review

Ghosts has a knack for being both humorous and touching. Aside from Trevor’s dark web escapades and Sam’s hilariously unnecessary Southern accent, this was a heartwarming episode. At least now we know the reason behind Trevor’s appearance—and it’s a noble one!

As for Pete, well, he had it coming, given the countless times he flaunted his powers to the other ghosts. Karma finally came back to bite him when they all discovered Donna’s true identity!
