Ghosts – Season 4 Episode 3 Recap & Review

Halloween 4: The Witch

Episode 3 of Ghosts Season 4 begins with Sam preparing for Halloween. However, Jay convinces her to forgo the holiday since they’ve had unfortunate incidents every Halloween, starting from when their gazebo burned down in Season 1. Meanwhile, Patience becomes convinced that Sam is a witch when she sees her voice activate a Halloween decoration.

Since they’re not celebrating Halloween, Sam and Jay organize a yard sale to get rid of the many antiques they own. At the same time, Patience rallies the ghosts to vote on whether Sam is a witch or not. The ghosts vote in favor of Sam being a witch, partly out of amusement and partly to avoid Patience’s wrath. When they see a statue at the yard sale dressed exactly like Sam, they believe Patience has really turned Sam into a statue.

The ghosts try to warn Jay against selling the statue, with Trevor attempting to send a text message to him, but it’s too late. Meanwhile, Isaac distracts Patience by getting her to watch a television show, while the other ghosts try to track down the man who bought Sam’s statue.

They manage to trace the buyer thanks to the website address written on the back of his car, and Trevor relays the information to Jay. Jay goes over to reclaim Sam before the statue is destroyed, as the buyer runs a YouTube channel focused on blowing things up.

Unfortunately, the statue breaks when Jay brings it back home, but it turns out Sam was never the statue after all! Sam had been helping a yard sale customer move furniture into their house. Jay apologizes to Sam, and they reconcile.

Meanwhile, realizing there is “far too much temptation” in the house for it to be a suitable place for “the pious,” Patience decides to return to the dirt, revealing there are more ghosts like her!

The Episode Review

This episode, compared to the other Halloween episodes from past seasons, was fairly predictable and not particularly creative. The amusing part was the ghosts being fooled into thinking Patience has more powers beyond her bloody wall art, along with the ongoing jokes about Alberta’s humming power and Hetty’s powerlessness.

Overall, the episode ends with the hint that there may be more characters like Patience “in the dirt”—more ghosts with ungodly powers who might even refer to toasters as “the tongue of hell!” It would be entertaining to see what other characters the show has in store for us.
