Episode 6
Episode 6 of GG Precinct begins with a flashback to 2001. Shui-yan is tutoring the Huang siblings. The boy, Huang Hsien is distracted by girls swimming in the resort while the sister is focused and intelligent. Shui-yan comments that the girl will do much better in life than Hsien.
How do Shui-yan and the copycat killer escape?
At present, Shui-yan escapes by jumping out of the window and Ming-han chases him. They get into a fight in the car with Shui-yan falling out. A woman comes in front of the car and to avoid her, Ming-han swerves and crashes the car. Meanwhile, the delivery girl who is the copycat killer rushes towards Chang. He announces that he is a jiu-jitsu expert but the next thing we see is that he has hit his head and been kidnapped by the killer.
Who is the copycat killer?
Ming-han shows up at the precinct with broken arms and legs. The commissioner is upset as they have not only let both killers escape but now Chief Chang has been kidnapped. The only thing they know is that the copycat killer is a delivery girl and Chubby feels betrayed as he always rates 5 stars for all delivery personnel.
Ming-han suddenly recalls their regular delivery girl threatening Chubby to always rate her 5 stars. She was also the one who created a scene while Huang Hsien was on a date with his student.
They bring the teacher back and an infuriating interrogation takes place as Hsien is a womanizer and he has no idea who the cops are asking about. They finally zero in on the same restaurant incident and he reveals that the delivery girl is his sister, Huang Hsiao-yin. He shows them a photo of him, Hsiao-yin and Shua-yin.
The cops barge into her home and see that she has notes on the idioms she linked to each murder. Still unable to find her, Hsien suggests checking out the old resort where they used to hang out as kids.
Does Shua-yin kill the students for Hsiao-yin?
We see Shua-yin heading to the same resort as well. On the way, he thinks about Hsiao-yin. Turns out, the student couple from his class had bullied the Huang siblings. Hsiao-yin wants to kill them but Shua-yin stops her by taking her blade. He tells her to let go of such bad thoughts but promises her that time will solve all problems.
A few days later, Hsien tears up the newspaper in anger. Hsiao-yin sees that it is covered with news about Shua-yin’s arrest and she is shocked by his 2 victims. They are the same bullies who had bullied Shua-yin in class as well as the Huang siblings.
What’s the reason behind each of Hsiao-yin’s murders?
Shua-yin finally arrives at the resort and finds Hsiao-yin who has tied up Chang in the empty pool. As teacher and student catch up, Shua-yin shares that he found the GG Precinct useless. And when he learned that they were suspecting Hsien who he cares for, he misdirected them to an innocent delivery person.
However, he is amused that the actual killer is not only a delivery person but it is his former student. He is sad that despite Hsiao-yin being smart, she ended up this way while Hsien is a successful teacher despite being a bad student. She slams back that Hsien has forgotten Shua-yin’s teachings but she hasn’t and we see the flashbacks that lead to all the copycat murders.
Hsiao-yin arrives at the first victim’s building for a delivery and fixes an idiom on one of the notices. The security guard is rude and scolds her for messing up his notice and entering the wrong way which she didn’t know.
Next, at the school, she overhears the second victim, the PE teacher being overly friendly with a female student and telling her the wrong idiom. Hsiao-yin runs up to him and corrects the idiom. He doesn’t care as he is not a language teacher. She advises him not to spread the wrong information as a teacher but he brushes her off.
Finally, she spots a married Hsien taking the third victim, Yumi out on a date. When Hsiao-yin calls him, he lies to her. As she watches Yumi’s videos, in one, the idol says the right idiom – Going up in smoke. But she feels that going “down” in smoke is more apt even if it is wrong. This angers Hsiao-yin who breaks her phone.
At present, she shares that she wanted to teach these victims a lesson while also stopping her brother from being a womanizer.
Why does Shua-yin stop Hsiao-yin from killing Chang?
Shua-yin reprimands Hsiao-yin for being a messy killer in the first case. In the second case, she uses the wrong idiom. In the third case, he points out that Yumi said the right idiom so Hsiao-yin shouldn’t have killed her just to teach her brother a lesson.
Shua-yin finally asks her why she has captured Chang. She shares that it is because he provoked her and it is for her last idiom – Kill one to warn a hundred. Shua-yin keeps asking her why the target of this idiom should be a police officer and she has no answer. They bicker till they hear the cops arrive.
In haste, Hsiao-yin tries to kill Chang but Shua-yin stops her. He shares that he had hoped the Huang siblings would become great teachers and not make the mistakes he made. He tells her not to blindly imitate him and is sad that she has lost his way She claims she has always wanted to be him and do what he couldn’t. Since the idiom needs to be completed, she kills herself. Shua-yin sadly looks at her body and leaves.
What happens to the GG Precinct in the end?
The cops arrive to only find Chang in the swimming pool. They search for Shua-yin but are unable to find him. It cuts to the Commissioner stating in a press conference that she has caught the Idiom Killer and Hsiao-yin killed herself to escape punishment. She also adds that the cops responsible for letting Shua-yin escape in the first place have been punished.
2 weeks later, we see that Ming-han and Tzu-ching have been blacklisted from big cases. However, the precinct is fine with it as they sit and eat chicken together. Tzu-ching wonders how Hsiao-yin caught Chang despite him being a jiu-jitsu expert and he deflects as we see that he actually slipped and hit his head. Chubby suddenly announces that their favourite restaurant is shutting down and everyone rushes out for one last meal.
Where does Shua-yin go?
In the GG Precinct Episode 6 epilogue, we see that Shua-yin is in a coastal town. He has ordered a Turkish ice cream and the seller messes with him. Shua-yin is unable to get the ice cream and he says the idiom – A man’s words are good.
This hints that Shua-yin may consider killing again with the ice cream seller as his latest victim. The idiom that he says may be the Taiwanese version of – “A man of his word” or “A man is only as good as his word”. The ice cream seller “lying” in accordance with the Turkish ice cream game may have provoked Shua-yin.
The Episode Review
And with this exciting finale, the Netflix show comes to an end. It maintains the comedic tone with the two killers bickering and Chang hurting himself. And along with it, we get an intricate investigation that is finally resolved with all plot points tied up pretty neatly if you ask us.
GG Precinct Episode 6 also twists the mystery and disrupts any and all theories we could have had. Sure, we always knew that there would be 2 killers but no one could have guessed their reason for killing. In fact, Hsiao-yin has (sort of) valid reasons for her first 2 murders but it is Shua-yin who ends up being way more rational.
From what we can gather, Hsiao-yin’s bullies were the catalyst and once they made a mistake in their exams, Shua-yin used that as an excuse to kill them. But when it comes to Hsiao-yin’s murders, he doesn’t approve as it is wrong. Of course, we cannot excuse the brutality of his murders which is all him.
Similarly, Hsiao-yin may have wanted to teach the victims a lesson as well as get her revenge but she didn’t have to go to such extreme lengths to disfigure her victims. This is where both killers shine as complex characters who are so well-etched out that it surprises viewers that they can understand their motives yet find them so deranged.
