Happy Moment
Our ‘From Me to You: Kimi Ni Todoke’ season 3 episode 5 recap and review follows Pin asking his class to conclude their party for the night. Kento and Yano leave together, while the latecomers, Ryu and Chizu, come back to find the party breaking up for the day. They leave soon after together as well.
While going back home, heeding Pin’s advice to speak her mind, Sawako tearfully tells Shota that she fears he might not like her anymore due to his behavior over the past couple of weeks. Understanding the toll it has taken on Sawako, Shota and Sawako finally share a kiss, with Shota emphasizing how much he likes her.
The couple then discusses the challenges they’ve been having, with Shota mostly telling Sawako how much he likes her while they sit in a café. He confesses to not being the cool person that he appears to be and admits he had been embarrassed by how petty he actually is. Sawako is touched by his words, and they agree to face future challenges together head-on.
At home, Kento calls Shota after 2 in the morning to tell him that he and Yano have decided to date. He’s so happy that he hilariously spends the next few hours talking about how great Yano is while Shota tries to stay awake.
The next day, Yano and Chizu arrive at Sawako’s house, and they discuss their personal lives and all the new updates that had yet to be shared. Sawako and Shota are back to being their usual selves, Yano is enamored by how good a guy Kento is, while Chizu tries to avoid discussing Ryu but ends up showing the pink flower to her friends anyway and becomes the butt of Yano’s teasing.
Later, they invite their partners to have dinner with Sawako’s family at her mother’s request. Ryu is happy and embarrassed at the same time that Chizu showed his present to her friends. They all settle for dinner when Sawako’s shocked father comes back home.
They have a happy time together, and they leave with Sawako’s father telling them that they’re always welcome to visit the family. That night, while Sawako sleeps, her parents reminisce about when she was a child and wonder how things will be 10 years later.
The Episode Review
Kimi Ni Todoke’s finale episode ends with immense optimism as the friends have eventually figured out the right paths to their personal challenges. It’s lovely to watch their friendships deepen with every episode as they navigate love, friendships, and their own growing selves.
The anime ends with a bittersweet note, with Sawako’s parents acknowledging the limited time they have with her until she leaves for university. Not only the main characters but Sawako’s parents have also shown a great deal of character growth, especially her doting father, who now has to share his daughter with many more people.
As the episode ends with a hopeful future, we wonder if a season 4 focusing on Sawako and her friends’ university life might be in the making. One thing is for sure though, if it’s taken 13 years for Sawako and Shota to progress, we aren’t sure if the anime will conclude in this lifetime!
