Revelations: Chapter One
Episode 9 of From Season 3 begins with Ellis and Boyd searching for Fatima until Boyd’s body gives in, forcing Ellis to help him back to the sheriff’s station. There, Boyd reveals his illness to Ellis. Meanwhile, Sara arrives and informs them that she’s heard the voices again—this time laughing at the townsfolk. The voices told Sara that something had taken Fatima and that they would never be able to save her.
At the root cellar, Elgin is holding Fatima prisoner, feeding her blood, completely believing that he is doing this for her good.
On the other hand, Kristi examines Julie and declares that she is completely normal. Later, the family visits the diner, which is once again operational thanks to Bakta, but it’s clear that Ethan feels guilty about what happened to Julie.
Meanwhile, Boyd discusses Sara’s revelations with Donna. Donna decides to keep Tillie’s murder a secret due to Fatima’s importance to the townsfolk. A meeting is held, informing the rest of the people about Fatima’s disappearance, and they organize a search for her. Meanwhile, Fatima discovers a trapdoor in the root cellar but is unable to open it.
Elsewhere, Victor tries to cut the Faraway Tree with an axe. The Boy in White appears again, looking different this time, and tells Victor not to chop the tree. Victor, angry and demanding answers, is met with the boy’s cryptic remark that the townsfolk need to suffer to understand the truth. With this, the boy disappears.
Boyd reveals his condition to Kenny, who agrees to become his deputy again. Meanwhile, Jade has a vision of Christopher and Jasper. Later, he advises Henry not to try to “fix” Victor, as he isn’t broken in the first place.
As Jim tries to comfort Ethan and assure him he shouldn’t feel guilty about what happened to Julie, Julie and Tabitha encounter the lighthouse child. The child guides them to the root cellar, where they find Victor.
In the cellar, everyone senses something strange as the kimono lady prevents Fatima from screaming for help. When Tabitha touches Victor, she experiences his mother’s memories, witnessing how she was killed by a creature on her way to the Faraway Tree. The episode ends with Tabitha completely traumatized by her visions.
The Episode Review
In Episode 9 of From Season 3, the plot finally begins to pick up after much of the season spent stagnating. True to From’s style, this episode shifts the tempo, with rising tensions over Fatima’s disappearance and the Boy in White’s ominous declaration of doom.
However, compared to the penultimate episodes of the last two seasons, this installment falls short in terms of composition. It leaves us wondering whether From can ever regain its earlier standing with fans.
With just one episode left before the finale, we can only hope that the scattered developments will come together to deliver a satisfying conclusion—and give us something to look forward to in a potential Season 4.
