From – Season 3 Episode 1 Recap & Review

Shatter

Season 3 of From kicks off with Tabitha waking up in a hospital in Maine, disoriented and unable to believe her surroundings. She quietly slips out of the hospital, only to spot the mysterious white-clothed boy waving at her. When she tries to follow, she loses him. Wandering the town, she borrows a phone and calls her mother, who reveals that the police have been searching for the family for a long time.

Despite her mother’s pleas, Tabitha abruptly ends the call. Later, she finds a church, where she confesses her experiences, but the priest only believes her once she mentions her dead child, Thomas. As she leaves, Tabitha opens Victor’s lunchbox, revealing an address inside. She rushes to a house where an old man, seemingly Victor’s father, recognizes the lunchbox.

Meanwhile, back in town, Tabitha’s absence sends her family into a panic. Ethan attempts to search for her but is stopped by Kenny’s mother. Boyd, injured from a previous encounter, steps in to help as well. Jim insists on searching for Tabitha himself, with Kenny volunteering to accompany him. Boyd directs them toward the lighthouse, but instead, they find a strange area filled with wooden houses and skull figures. The night grows perilous as evidence of creatures appears. Fearing for his life and the impact it would have on his children, Jim decides to return to town.

Back in the town, residents are on edge as seasons change and food rations dwindle. Donna leads a group, including Ellis, to harvest the last crops, only to find they’ve all rotted—likely due to the recent storm. Chaos ensues when desperate residents storm Kenny’s mother’s basement, stealing the remaining food. Randall tries to take a goat, but Boyd and others stop him, explaining that livestock is their last food source.

Boyd gives an inspiring speech about resilience, urging the group not to let the place break them. Afterward, Boyd, Donna, and Kenny’s mother devise a survival plan: slaughter livestock sparingly and attempt to grow small crops in new soil since the current one is poisoned.

As night falls, Boyd finds himself at the station with Jade, who’s been drinking and acting irrationally. Suddenly, the creatures release the livestock, with cows and goats wandering through the streets. Boyd, Jade, Victor, and Kenny’s mother rush to gather the animals. Meanwhile, Ethan opens a door when he spots his favourite goat, only to be confronted by a creature. He and Julie flee, running into Sara, who helps them escape to the bus, where Randall manages to shelter them.

Elsewhere, Boyd and Kenny’s mother secure the barn and place the talisman on top for protection. However, it turns out to be a trap—creatures emerge from the back, taunting Boyd about his earlier speech. They mock him as they begin to torment Kenny’s mother, ripping her skin apart as she panics.

The Episode Review

From Season 3 returns with its signature unsettling, creepy atmosphere fully intact. The episode starts off relatively calm, with the mystery and suspense building gradually. But then, in the final 10 minutes, all hell breaks loose—literally. The tension reaches fever pitch, and the shocking death of Kenny’s mother hits hard, as there was no foreshadowing of such a gruesome fate.

This episode leaves us with even more questions about the town’s reality. Now that Tabitha has seemingly returned to the real world, what does that mean for the others? Was she in an accident and dreaming this whole time? Are the people in the town already dead, or do they die and return to the real world, as Tabitha might have? Or is this all some twisted game orchestrated by the evil forces that haunt the town where Tabitha might be lost in an illusion?

What’s clear is that From Season 3 promises to keep us hooked with its eerie, suspense-filled narrative. And for now, we’re here for the ride!
