After their decades-long journey comes to a close, Frieren’s companion Heiter imposes his young human apprentice Fern onto her. Frieren and Fern embark on a journey through past locations Frieren once visited with her pals. On this new expedition, she’ll reminisce about her failures to form deeper connections with her previous comrades.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Episode 22 Release Date
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 1 Episode 22 will be released on Friday 9th February at approximately 2pm (GMT) / 7am (PT) / 9am (CT). Of course, it’s dependent on how quickly the platform uploads new episodes. Expect this to be pretty close to the release time though.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 1’s English Dub is now available on Crunchyroll. However, only episodes one through nineteen are available (so far). You’ll need to watch the remaining episodes in the native Japanese language with subtitles.

What Happened in Episode 21?
In Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 1 Episode 21, we receive a flashback of Frieren and Flamme meeting Serie in her domain. Serie says Flamme was a former student of hers and offers Frieren a spell of her choosing. Frieren denies the offer, surprising Serie. Then, in the present, we observe Richter’s battle with Lawine and Kanne.
Richter overwhelms the girls and gives them a history lesson about magic. Although they’re not doing great in this battle, Lawine knows Richter’s afraid of their abilities. Afterward, we examine the battle between Denken and Frieren. Despite putting on an impressive display, Frieren defeats Denken.
Frieren knows Laufen’s nearby and threatens her to give her their Stille back, otherwise, she’ll kill Denken. Laufen attempts to retrieve Denken but Frieren captures her. She binds the two to a tree and reveals she’s analyzed the barrier. Before Richter murders Lawine and Kanne, Frieren uses a spell to destroy the exam’s barrier, allowing Kanne to go all-out in her and Lawine’s battle against Richter.
The girls prevail and Frieren heads over to their location to reward them with head pats. Meanwhile, Richter finds himself near his comrades’ location. Laufen uses an attack to free herself and Denken from Frieren’s binding spell. The three leave the area to find a Stille. Afterward, we witness Fern and her allies in a cave.
They discuss Fern’s magical capabilities, her relationship with Frieren, and the exam’s next phase. After that, Denken and his party stumble upon a group with a Stille and Denken uses brute force to steal that group’s Stille. We receive a montage featuring all the victorious participants receiving intel about the next exam phase.
The episode closes with a funny snippet between Stark and a bar owner.
