Missing While Hated
Episode 7 of Found Season 2 starts with Gabi having a dream about Sir holding a press conference and being hailed a hero for saving Charlotte. She wakes up from the nightmare and it turns out she is still in her office, working with Christian. Dhan warns Gabi not to trust Christian, but she is determined to find Sir before she is arrested. After Christian leaves, Dhan informs Gabi they have a new case.
Elsewhere, Margaret is with Ethan. He is helping her find some calm, but Margaret still has to attend her court-mandated sessions. They also talk about Dhan and it seem Ethan still has hopes to reunite with Dhan. Unfortunately, with the new case, Dhan cancels his lunch date with Ethan, disappointing him.
Back at the office, the new client, Benny, reports that his close non-binary friend, Rash, is missing. Rash is a reporter and went missing after an interview with a source. Benny thinks one of the trolls who sent them threats is the culprit. Rash’s friend claims that Rash’s job might have made him lots of enemies. Rash is someone who reports on things most people like to hide. He is also queer and a combative reporter, it is possible someone came after him.
Away from the new case, the media and the public have taken a renewed interest in Sir and Gabi. A former classmate of Gabi gives an interview claiming that Gabi and Sir might have had a consensual relationship. However, Gabi tries not to let it get under her skin. She asks the team to work the Rash case without her, but Zeke convinces her otherwise. He also tells her that he hacked into the police database and Trent is hiding a letter Sir sent to Gabi when Lacey was missing. He is looking into it but it will take a while to find the content of the letters.
Still, on Gabi, she is also celebrating a special day to honour her mom. In the past, she felt her dad let her down on this day. Back in 2003, after she escaped, her dad was too drunk to remember the day. It was also the year she confronted him and he decided to go to rehab. What Gabi doesn’t know is Sir was watching her back in 2003 and saw how hurt she was when her dad let her down multiple times.
After Zeke convinces her to work on the case, Gabi leads the team. In the course of the case, Lacey realises that her memory is coming back. The team starts with Rash’s last case, but after speaking to their former boss; they get no leads. Gabi asks for the police’s help and brings Trent in. Trent tells her that Margaret has been texting him, asking about the bus station. However, Margaret’s chance to return to the bus station has been denied indefinitely. Gabi offers to break the news to Margaret and is not pleased that Trent is talking to her former classmate. He insists that he needs to talk to everyone to build a case against her.
Gabi holds a press conference and explains why it is important to find Rash, even though no one likes him. She promises to tell them about Sir if they tweet about Rash. Gabi then tells the press that Sir’s heroic act to save Charlotte was a classic manipulation move and cautions them. Sir sees the clip and gets angry. He starts looking into the case. Sir emails Zeke from a fake account and Zeke is conflicted about whether to tell Gabi, delete, or respond to the email.
Meanwhile, Lacey and Margaret find a lead about Rash’s unknown source, Wayne. Sadly, Wayne doesn’t offer much. However, as the case heats up, they realise Benny lied to them. He and Rash were not on good terms and he received a pay-out. It turns out that Benny discovered that Rash was looking into Congressman Bradley.
He met with Bradley and blackmailed him for money in exchange for getting Rash to stop investigating. Rash found out and was planning to move out. On the other side of town, Dhan and Trent get into it while looking for the internet troll that sent Rash a threat. Dhan warns Trent to stop looking into Gabi and things get a bit physical. Thankfully, Trent lets the incident slip.
Back at the office, Zeke makes it possible for Margaret to watch a live feed of the station. In the meantime, Gabi loses her cool when Sir releases a video statement coming to her defence. He clarifies that they only had an intellectual and spiritual connection. Later, Gabi talks to Bradley, but he denies having anything to do with Rash’s missing case. Later, one of Bradley’s men comes to the office and tells the team what they are missing. Sadly, Bradley has been sexually abusing the gay men in his team for years. One of the victims is Wayne, but he got cold feet. Rash was supposed to meet him and convince him to speak his truth. The team realises that Wayne is the kidnapper and rushes to save Rash.
The team arrives in time to save Rash, and Wayne apologises. He admits he got scared and didn’t want his abuse to be aired out. He didn’t want to feel powerless and face judgment from the world. As a gay man, he thought the world would blame him. However, Gabi’s words give him the courage to speak up and he allows Rash to tell the story. After Rash gets treatment at the hospital, they reunite with Benny. They also break the news of the congressman’s abuse.
After wrapping the case, everyone heads out, but Margaret remains at the office to watch the live feed from the bus station. Trent calls Gabi to warn her that the gum he found at the farm had DNA similar to Sir’s, but not a perfect match. Most likely, it was probably a relative and Trent thinks Sir is working with Christian. He warns Gabi not to trust Christian.
Dhan feels the same way and tracks Christian to threaten him. Gabi promises to be careful and appreciates Trent’s concern. She is also touched that Lacey and her mom remembered this was a special day for her. The episode ends with Zeke telling Lacey how he stood up to Sir when he sent him an email.
Lacey is proud of Zeke, but before they can celebrate, Trent and the police barge in. Unfortunately, Zeke is in trouble for hacking the police department. He starts having a panic attack when the police start taking his gadgets. Back at the office, Margaret has a breakdown when the police disconnect her feed and Gabi tries to calm her down.
The Episode Review
This was an intense and emotional episode. We are gearing up for the fall finale and the show is raising the stakes. So far, Zeke is in legal trouble after hacking the police department. Dhan has already crossed a few lines and his fight with Trent doesn’t help his case. He is also on the verge of losing Ethan. Ethan clearly blames Gabi for Dhan’s decision and he is not wrong. Dhan prioritises Gabi more than himself. It is concerning and understandable why Ethan feels this way. No one wants to be the fifth priority in their husband’s life.
Meanwhile, Margaret is emotionally overwhelmed and on the brink of a full emotional breakdown. With Gabi possibly going to prison soon, Margaret is worried they will never find her son. Lacey is still recovering from her latest kidnapping, and Gabi is running out of time. Sir is becoming more brazen and there is a possibility that Christian or some other relative is helping him. With Trent on her case, Gabi must be feeling stressed. Will she find Sir before Trent puts her in cuffs?
This episode also touched on the discrimination that most queer men face when they report sexual abuse. No one should be abused, and it is not our place to judge the victims. Someone’s sexual orientation is not a justification to harm them in any way.
