Found – Season 2 Episode 1 “Missing While Bait” Recap & Review

Missing While Bait

Episode 1 of Found season 2 starts with Gabby trying to reach out to everyone. She is terrified that Sir got to them to punish her. Everyone is unavailable apart from Dhan and she warns him not to eat or drink anything in his house. She also asks him to try to contact the others. She thinks they are not picking up because they are angry at her.

She drives to Lacey’s place while Dhan calls Margaret and warns her not to eat anything. He asks her to get to safety. Dhan heads over to Zeke’s after failing to reach him multiple times. He breaks into the house and finds Zeke passed out on the floor. He calls for an ambulance and then calls Gaby. Gaby is too stunned to speak when he asks about Lacey. The scene cuts to a bloody scene at Lacey’s house. Gaby quickly assumes Lacey is dead and starts blaming herself.

In a flashback to 2003, a month after their escape, we reunite with a young Lacey. She kept seeing Sir outside her window, but her mom assumed it was a nightmare and tried to calm her down. Was it a nightmare?

Speaking of Sir, he buys cleaning supplies and gets a shave. This might not be a good idea since the police, led by Trent, are looking for him. Trent wants to know everything about Sir and asks his partner, Shaker, to look into it. He then heads to the hospital where Gaby and her team are waiting for updates on Zeke.

The doctor thinks the chances of Zeke waking up are slim, but there is hope. Gaby offers to stay till he regains consciousness and Trent finds this weird. He assumed that Gaby would be out there looking for Lacey. However, Gaby believes Lacey is dead and there is nothing she can do. Hearing this forces Margaret to lash out at her. Again, Trent wonders what is going on, but no one answers him. As they argue, Zeke’s dad arrives and offers to stay as the team searches for Lacey, alive or not.

The team heads back to the office, but they have no leads. When Trent asks why Sir attacked Lacey and not Gaby, no one answers him. Gaby insists she has to call Lacey’s mother and leaves. Meanwhile, Margaret returns to Lacey’s house to find clues. However, it is hard for her to focus since she is so angry with Gaby. At the same time, Dhan finds Zeke’s resignation letter on his computer. He wants to quit immediately, but will support the foundation for the next six months. Dhan deletes it immediately.

The police bring in Lacey’s dog walker to figure out how he got to Lacey’s dog. Gaby begs to stay during the interrogation and learns that the dog walker was distracted by her boyfriend’s drama. She goes back to the office and Margaret asks for more information on Sir. She openly blames Gaby for Lacey’s current situation. Gaby tells them everything she knows about Sir, down to his favourite chafing cream. She believes that purity is important to Sir. Margaret is too dumbfounded by Gaby’s detailed response.

As the fighting escalates, Gaby comes clean to Trent. He accuses her of being manipulative and using his feelings for her to trick him. He is shocked that Gaby held Sir captive for nine months. He is ready to arrest her, but she promises to turn herself in after finding Lacey and he gives her 72 hours. Outside Gaby’s office, Margaret and Dhan continue to fight. Dhan understands Gaby but Margaret can’t. She vows to quit as soon as they find Lacey.

Gaby and Trent return to her house to try to see if Sir left a clue.  She recalls Sir’s quote from one of his favourite books about how they are alike and will continuously seek each other. She realises that he must have stolen a car nearby. Since it was during the night, she figures the owners didn’t know their car was gone just yet.  Soon, they find out the make of the car he stole and put a BOLO on it. In the press briefing, Gaby sends a message to Sir, quoting his favourite book. In other words, she is agreeing that he was right and they are alike. She hopes Sir will reach out to her.

On the other side of town, Shaker finds out that Sir’s mom didn’t die in a fire as originally thought. She believes Sir killed his mom before setting the house on fire. The BOLO on the car gives them a lead and they follow it directly to the car. However, Lacey is not there. There is only a message from Sir asking Gaby to be patient.

The team gets a call from the hospital and rushes there. They find Zeke awake but having an anxiety attack. Margaret convinces Zeke’s dad to allow them to return home. Once he gets home, Zeke calms down and starts helping with the case. Even though he is angry with Gaby, Lacey is important to him. Later, Lacey’s mom arrives at their offices. She is hopeful that Lacey is alive and they will find her. She knows why Gaby took Sir, but she is not angry. She solely blames Sir for Lacey’s kidnapping.

Thanks to Zeke, the team discovers that Sir used Dhan’s husband’s credit card to rent a holiday home. The scene cuts to Sir, rewatching Gaby’s press briefing. Simultaneously, the team heads to the holiday house, but Sir is long gone.

However, Gaby finds a clue that Nesy left in the mirror to show she is alive. The scene then cuts to Sir tying Lacey up and telling her that she is his key to Gaby. It turns out that even in the past, Sir used Lacey to find Gaby again. He was watching Lacey, and it was not nightmares. He was always outside her window. When Lacey was struggling, her mom reached out to Gaby, who visited Lacey. This is how Sir was able to track Gaby down again.

After a long day, Gaby goes through Sir’s novel, the one he left at her house and finds a clue. The clue leads her to a pay phone where she gets a call from Sir. The episode ends with them on a call.

The Episode Review

This new season picks up immediately where we left off. The stakes are higher than before. Gaby might go to prison. Lacey is gone and who knows what Sir will do to her? Everyone is angry with Gaby and the team is falling apart. Amazingly, Gaby can still function under all this stress.

Understandably, everyone feels betrayed by Gaby. Her actions led to one of them being kidnapped, and the others narrowly escaping death. Their anger also stems from the fact that Gaby imprisoned Sir.

Despite him being a monster, they feel that it was inhumane to imprison Sir because they have previously been kidnapped or lost someone after they were taken away. This season is proving to be more exciting than season one, and we can’t wait to see how everything unfolds.
