Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange Episode 5 begins with Daigo dislocating his shoulder. They assist him by pushing in the air saw before Daigo can enter and crawl his way in. Shun is surprised to see everyone act like it’s normal.

The daughter of the survivor arrives in a hurry from the school after learning about the mishap. She is prohibited from entering the dangerous building and sees her mother being taken on a stretcher to the ambulance.

Reaching the survivor, Daigo snaps his arm back into the socket. He then proceeds to use the air saw to cut through the rebar. Yamagami instructs Usui and Tsubaki to assist him with a scope and floodlight.

Yamagami instructs Daigo to go from a different angle to avoid breaking the blade in the rubble. Shun grabs the arm of the survivor and reassures him that he will survive. Just then, the air saw stops and the others are puzzled as to why. Yuki hears about the rescue operation and its delicate state and wishes for Shun and Daigo to make it out alive.

Daigo sees the arm twitching and continues sawing through the rebar. Shun brings the protective blanket and they prepare to extract the victim. Just then Shun hears the wall behind him crumble and holds it back.

Daigo completes sawing through the rebar and they extract the survivor. Daigo also follows out. Just then the building begins to collapse. Shun alarmingly tells them to escape. They notice the wall behind him and pull him on the count of three. Shun escapes right before the wall can collapse.

They assist each other out of the building as it collapses. Yuki prays for their safety at the end of Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange Episode 5.


The Episode Review

Things get heated in this episode as we approach the rescue of Survivor 252. Shun and Daigo face a multitude of challenges while rescuing the survivor, but all are handled tactfully. The crumbling wall behind Daigo really adds to the scarcity of time, building anxiety.

To top that off, we open with the daughter of the survivor arriving after getting news of the fire. Additionally, Firefighter Daigo: Rescuer in Orange Episode 5 highlights a message Yuki had sent Daigo a day before, saying ‘Drop Dead’ as a casual response. Things, however, get to her as she realizes he is actually in a life-threatening situation.
