Chapter 11 of FF7 Rebirth begins with us en-route to Nibelheim. At the start of the chapter, you will have also unlocked Summon Entity: Odin too. The open world is now open with extra quests but it’s best to get to the end of the story section first before pressing on with this.

For now, head across the open world section, following the pathway across to Nibelheim. You’ll know you’re on the right path because a sporadic bunch of robed figures will be en-route.

When you get near to Nibelheim, a cutscene will trigger.

The Terminal

Follow Cait Sith and the others up to the water tower and the center of town. After a brief cutscene, you’ll now be free to explore. There are new Queen’s Blood players here that you can battle, and it’s worth stopping by the shop too and picking up any new weapons and restocking items.

Speak to Aerith by the water tower as well and follow her up to improve your relationship with her.

Next, head into Tifa’s house and speak to her up on the bedroom. Head back outside and then into the inn once you’ve spoken to Tifa. After talking to Barret, press triangle to interact with your door.

A Village Changed

After the cutscene, head downstairs and back outside. Go to the town hall and speak to Cait Sith by the console.

Prep For Departure

Head north from the town hall and regroup with the team. Select “yes” to go up to the Mako reactor.

To The Reactor

At this point, you’ll be retracing your steps from the opening chapter of the game. However, your party is locked with Tifa and Yuffie onboard. Follow Tifa as she heads over to the bridge and be sure to open the chest just to the left of the console, which holds 1x Crystal Gloves.

Keep moving to the left past this and across the next bridge (pictured below).

Riverside Trail

After the cutscene, head forward and be sure to use the bench and vending machine too. Defeat the enemies at the entrance of the cave and head on inside.

Mako Spring

Proceed through the cave and make your way over to the Mako Spring from before. When you get near, another little cutscene will trigger. There’s also 1x Orb of HP <> MP Materia here to grab.

To The Reactor

Head to the right and climb up out of the cave, just as you did as Cloud and Sephiroth earlier in the game. However, when you reach the broken bridge, you’ll need to find another route. Thankfully, Yuffie will have just the thing. Climb up the rope and follow this new path all the way round.

When you reach the climbable wall, be sure to take a slight detour to the right and open the chest which holds 1x Igneous Saber.

Continue on this path, going beyond the pink chest and up the next climbing wall in the distance. When you reach the top, veer off to the right and you’ll find another rock ledge you can climb up. There, you’ll be able to open a chest which holds 1x Sapphire.

Climb the wall opposite, follow the route round and climb to the very top of this rock wall. When you emerge with the barren trees, if you follow the path to the right, you’ll be able to pick up 1x Orb of Warding Materia.

Continue back on the main path and after defeating the fire-breathing dragon, approach the wall and press up to progress through (pictured below).

Coming Down The Pipeline

Choose a pipe (they all end up in the same place) and open the yellow chest to grab 1x Chunk of Cosmotite Ore.

The next choice leads to a variety of different materials, but to be honest the choice doesn’t make much difference. After the next slide, you’ll find a couple of enemies guarding a chest. Defeat these goons and open the chest to grab 1x Crimsonite Crystal.

Finally, slide down the last slide to the bottom.

Locked Out

Approach the gate on the left and press Triangle, to reveal that the way forward is locked. Thankfully, there’s a movable dumpster on the left you can use to pull forward and across to the edge of the fence. Climb up and hop over to the other side.

Climb over, hold Triangle to open the gate and let the others through. Next, continue forward and defeat the Twin Brains that show up before approaching the “Staff Only” door. Press Triangle to proceed through and immediately go to the left, where you can open a yellow chest to reveal 1x Giga-Potion.

Next, head on into the cave and approach the elevator at the end. Press Triangle to activate it and let it bring you to the higher area. There’s a beautiful shot of Nibel here you can admire before heading out and back on the main path again.

A little way up, another cutscene will trigger.

The Deputy Commissioner

Head up the stairs and be sure to use the bench and the vending machine before proceeding further. There’s a boss fight coming u and you should definitely be well-rested for this one.

When you’re ready, go inside the Mako Reactor and enter the elevator. When you emerge to the lower chamber, you’ll have another boss fight to contend with.

Boss Fight – Diabolic Variant

There will be two spots to fight off the variant, the main bulk and the Right Arm. You want to immediately focus on the Right Arm and attack that every chance you get. Be sure to dodge regularly, as it uses an array of nasty moves, including Ensnare where it’ll lunge forward and grab you. It also uses Toxic Mire, which has a chance of poisoning and Triple Slash, which is a big damage melee strike.

Compared to other bosses, this one doesn’t have too much health but it does spawn clones of itself after losing some of its health. You want to focus on destroying the main Variant even with the clone there, because destroying the main bulk will also destroy the clone too. As soon as it’s staggered, use your strongest attacks and it should go down quite quickly.

Defeating this will net you 3600 Exp, 10 AP and 50 Party Exp.

With the Variant down, head forward through the doors all the way to the Reactor, where another cutscene will trigger.

Stealthing Into Shinra Manor

Now you’ll be controlling Cait Sith and the mission will change to getting into Shinra Manor. To begin with, leave the Town Hall and be sure to use R2 to roll around town and make your journey that much faster. Follow Red across to the Manor Entrance, and be sure to use the Bench and Vending Machine just outside.

Approach the gates and press Triangle to open.

Search For The Terminal

As Cait Sith, head forward and into the Manor. To find what we need, go all the way to the right to the elevator and press triangle to open and again on the button inside to take it down.

Inside the Underground Tavern, a little cutscene will play out and it’ll be time to leave the prison.

Buds Behind Bars

Hold R2 to roll into the first duct right in front of you. When you emerge into the larger prison area, defeat the enemy in the middle of the room.

A new little tutorial will pop up so follow the instructions to throw the switch over at the top of the prison cell, just to the top right. In order to drop the box, there’s a pressure switch just in front to the left. There’s also another switch over on the left, which you can throw a box up to and open the gates. Inside is a chest holding 1x Golden Megaphone.

Debris Disturbance

Continue along the linear track and approach the console in the next room. Press triangle to lower down the elevator but an error will pop up and we’ll need to clear the debris. In order to do that, grab a box, limb up the stairs and throw it at the broken pipe (pictured below).

With that done, head into the elevator and press triangle to raise it back up. When you emerge, head forward into the larger arena and defeat the enemies inside. With that done, approach the vent and use Cait Sith to roll inside.

Defeat the enemies inside here and press Triangle on the console by the door to trigger the next stage of this puzzle. Also a heads up, there’s a yellow chest in here holding 1x Giga-Potion.

Generator Valve

To get the Generator back up and running again you need to lower a box but do so without it smashing against the ground. Remember the spot with the yellow chest? Well, approach the large pallet of boxes and push it all the way back into the other room on the metal spot where the boxes are crashing down. Then, stand on the pressure plate with it in place and the box will drop without breaking.

Grab the box from the ground and point it at the switch above the generator to get it turned back on. Head forward into the room with all the boxes and smash away to get a whole bunch of goodies.

In the next room, defeat the enemies and be sure to go to the left and grab 1x Orb of Barrier Materia. You’ll need to grab the boxes and from the chute and throw them into the generator below. To do that, you’ll need to aim up at the spinning contraption and aim for the large chute to get the box inside (pictured below). Do this three times.

With the door unlocked, continue forward to t elevator. Defeat the enemies inside here first before approaching the elevator, then press triangle to raise it to the next level. There’s a bench and vending machine in here, so go ahead and use those if you need to. There’s also a yellow chest holding 1700 Gil and a few enemies to defeat too.

Once all that’s done, approach the console and press Triangle to trigger another cutscene.

Insufficient Power

Now it’s time for more Cait Sith shenanigans with the ducts. Either throw a box or slam with the Moogle on the switch to change the duct from red to blue. Roll through to the other side and you’ll find a chest holding 1x Dry Ether. There’s also another vent here so go ahead and roll up to the next floor.

On Ventilator Floor 3F, defeat the Adjudicator enemy and then you’ll have two more ducts to choose from.

Go up the airduct directly opposite the box shaft. At the top will be some breakable boxes but also 1x Orb of Atk <>Matk Materia.

Now, grab a box from the shaft after stepping on the trigger and theow that box all the way back down again onto the original switch on the ground floor. This will make the other vent up here accessible.

Now, go up the red vent until you emerge at Material Storage. There are 2 enemies up here and a yellow chest which happens to hold 1x Hades Armlet inside. Go upstairs the metal ramps and press Triangle to activate the elevator.

With it operational, grab a box and be sure to throw it up to the higher platform just to the right of the console. You will likely need to theow 3 boxes up here to get the weight just right. When it’s at the same level, break the boxes and the lift will raise up.

On this higher level, approach the console and press Triangle to activate it. A new enemy called Yin and Yang will show up and it has some tough attacks. It’s not a boss fight per-se but it may feel like it, especially with only Cait Sith in your party. Be sue to conjure your Moogle right away and hit it with your best physical attacks.

It’s also a good idea to equip the Barrier Materia we found earlier to stave off some of the effects from this enemy’s magic attacks, which include Thundaga and Firaga. Try to focus on staggering it as quickly as possible, and watch out for the melee strikes, which you should be able to dodge. Thundaga is much harder to avoid, but you can do big damage if you save up your Limit strikes and hit this foe while Staggered.

Board The Elevator

After the fight, head into the next room and press triangle by the console. Now, you’ll have a time limit to hit 10 boxes to get Collector’s Item: Stuffed Fat Moogle. In order to do that, you need to aim the boxes onboard the elevator just right to hit the supply crates.

If you aim just before each of the boxes, you should be able to strike them. When you reach the next floor, use the bench and vending machine here before using the console.

Input Password

Now it’s time to find the password to proceed forward. The actual code is 36-10-59-97, which you can find by moving the carts out the way on the other side of the room with the Moogle. There’s also a ladder here you can climb with a chest at the top holding 1x Giga-Potion.

Boss Fight – Forgotten Specimen

With your whole party joined together for this fight, Specimen uses an array of strong melee swipes, including Pummel where it’ll hit the arena with strikes left and then right. It also uses the same technique as those Adjudicator enemies earlier in the game and it switches up resistance from Physical attacks to magic and back again.

Use Aerith to cast magic and Barret or Cait Sith to do melee strikes. This will change constantly in the fight too so you’ll have to be patient here. The Specimen also uses a few different attacks along with transforming (this is when it changes up what it’s resistant to) including Mako Regurgitation which sees a blast of energy smash the ground in front of it. It also uses Biora, where it’ll do nasty poison damage, and Lariat, which is a simple but powerful melee strike where it hits the ground in a circular motion.

Build up your Limit gauges and keep this for when it’s staggered. You can use Barret’s Pressure Shot to build that up faster and coupled with Cait Sith’s Dice Roll, you can then strike it with either Synergy Abilities or Limit Strikes when staggered to knock off a considerable amount of HP.

At about 50% health left, the Specimen will switch things up and actually have a new weak spot, a Tentacle. Be sure to target this specifically and you’ll be able to stagger it much faster.

When it’s defeated, you’ll gain 3700 EXP, 10 AP and 1850 Gil.

Through The Door

With the boss gone, head on through to the next elevator and press triangle to lower it down and be reunited with your comrades.

Search Resumed

Your Party Selection will be locked with Cait Sith and Cloud, along with one more party member o make your choice. It’s a good idea to use either Aerith or Barret but again, the choice is yours.

Proceed forward and after meeting Vincent, select “Sephiroth” as the foe. Vincent will open up the terminal and you’ll be free to pass. For now, be sure to rest up the bench and use the vending machines. There’s also a yellow chest here which holds 1x Bottle of turbo ether.

Case the Joint

Walk around the room and follow the Pipes along into the adjacent room. In doing so a cutscene will trigger.

Boss Fight – Galian Beast

This beast will hit hard and has an array of melee strikes including Flying Debris, spinning slashes and Inner Turmoil. It also uses Counter against some of your melee strikes so you’ll need to be careful with that. You need to make sure you guard and dodge often in this fight and hit when you can, regularly switching up your chosen player. Galian Beast hits really hard and he’s very aggressive too.

Remember when we said to choose Aerith or Barret for this fight? Well, the former works really well as a healer while the latter an be used as a ranged attacker, but we’d personally gun for Aerith here so she can heal everyone up.

Try to keep your Limit Breaks for when Beast is Staggered, and be sure to parry any attacks you can when it gets up close and strikes with melee hit. Furthermore, you want to make sure you keep a distance when Beast uses Primal Roar or Bestial Flare, as these moves conjure a shockwave out that can hit the whole party.

Heal regularly and don’t let any of your party get low on health. That’s easier said than done when this boss is so aggressive, but Synergy Abilities are a great shout to use when Galian finally does get Staggered as it’ll take out a chunk of health.

Unfortunately, at around 50% health, it’ll use much more aggressive magic, including Bestial Flame which sees a jet of flame thrown in your direction. It also uses Chaotic Impulse, which is the nastiest move in its arsenal, and will eventually throw itself in the air and hit Chaos Flare, which will ignite the whole arena into damage-dealing red energy.

Keep hitting it with big attacks and be careful not to get KOed. Keep stoked up with healing items and eventually you’ll best him, especially if you hit with your strongest attacks while he’s staggered.

Winning this will net you 3700 EXP, 10 AP and 1850 Gil.

Overstayed Welcomes

Proceed forward out the chamber and press triangle to activate the elevator. Exit the mansion and head back to ton. On the way though, a familiar face will show up.

Boss Fight – Roche

Yep, it’s Roche again. This boss fight, you want to time your parries and dodges against Roche. He uses an array of heavy-hitting attacks, including Combustion Sword and simple melee combos alongside bigger attacks like Dragoon Dive where he’ll throw himself up in the air and knock down at your location.

He also uses Stygian Chains, which is a slow, strong melee strike and Cursestar, which sees orbs of magic rain down from the sky and damage anything they touch.

With about 25% health left, Roche will up the intensity of his sword strikes, including using Sinister Slash and Soul Cleave. However, if you dodge past these and keep hitting him with your best strong attacks, you should best him quite quickly.

Defeating Roche will net you 3700 EXP, 10 AP and 50 Party Exp.

Smoke Sent Up

After the big cutscene, you’ll now be free to explore the area. Here you’ll find 23 World Intel spots, there are 2 Side Quests (both accessible via the quest board in Nibel Village) and a few Queen’s Blood cards too.

When you’ve done all of this, return to Cid at the airfield and elect “Yes” to be carted off to the Gold Saucer. If you’ve chosen “Sephiroth” earlier on, Vincent will show up on the plane and join your motley crew of misfits.

A cutscene will trigger, and that will be the end of this chapter.
