As episode 14 of Family Guy season 22 starts, the Griffin family is seen watching the news. Tom Tucker reports Brad Pitt is coming to Quahog to shoot his latest movie in which he is playing the former New Jersey Governor, Chris Christy. Peter is upset they chose Brad Pitt to play a person of heft, and he decides to protest against it. Every overweight person in Quahog including Brian join the protest.
Josh Universal from the Christie movie invites Peter to put forth his concerns before the producers and Brad Pitt. Peter tells Brad that it’s unfair for him to play a fat person. When Peter threatens to continue the protest, Universal offers him the role of “Official Fat Guy Consultant”. Peter accepts the offer almost immediately. His job is to coach Brad to “think, eat, and live like a fat guy”.
Brad comes over to Griffin’s house to observe and learn from Peter’s lifestyle. Brad grows overweight just after spending a couple of days with Peter. He’s finally in the right shape to play Chris Christie. However, on the day of the shoot, Brad dislocates his hip due to his weight. Consequently, Peter gets the role. The shoot is complete within a short time.
At the movie premier, Peter realizes his acting skills are terrible, and understands what matters is skill irrespective of who brings it. The role should be played properly no matter if it’s played by a fat or thin person. In the end, he delivers a sensible speech with an intelligent commentary on the state of inclusion in the entertainment industry.
The Episode Review
The latest episode of Family Guy is probably the most unique one this season so far. The storyline is interesting, and the message in the end is priceless.
Though the story revolves around Brad Pitt, his character is bland and fails to impress. However, Peter makes up for it wonderfully. He is, as usual, a delight to watch, and cutaways add to the fun. What are your thoughts on this episode? Let us know in the comments below:
