Episode 4
Episode 4 of Face Me begins with Jeong-woo arriving at the rooftop just in time to stop Hee-young from jumping. He encourages her to stay alive, assuring her that things can change.
Elsewhere, Min-hyung grows suspicious of the culprit after noticing that she did not recognize Hee-young, deducing that someone had ordered her to attack. It is revealed that the culprit is the housekeeper of Seo Hoon-ha, the wife of the CEO of Hee-young’s modeling agency.
Meanwhile, Jeong-woo, haunted by memories of his fiancée’s murder, ends up drunk at a tent restaurant. The owner contacts Min-hyung, who picks him up and takes him to his hospital.
The next day, Min-hyung encounters a man visiting Hee-young—who turns out to be her late friend’s father. Upon investigation, Min-hyung discovers that Hee-young’s friend was sexually harassed by the CEO. Hee-young had reported the incident, but her friend tragically committed suicide.
The police finally arrest the housekeeper, who confesses everything. They uncover that the CEO, while in prison, had orchestrated the plan with his wife to exact revenge on Hee-young and ruin her career.
As the case resolves, Hee-young undergoes skin graft surgery, a solution Jeong-woo had suggested when he stopped her from jumping. Min-hyung compliments Jeong-woo’s dedication and sincerity toward his patients, leaving him visibly embarrassed.
Later, Jeong-woo is visited by a man who requests surgery to look like someone in a photo. After the procedure, it is revealed that the man wanted to look more like his son, hoping to repair their strained relationship after his son discovered he was adopted.
Meanwhile, Hee-young participates in the K-beauty contest finals. Although she doesn’t win, she becomes the representative model for a luxury beauty brand. She expresses her gratitude to Jeong-woo by sending him a gift.
At the police station, Min-hyung’s partner discovers new CCTV footage, which appears to show the hooded man who had previously tried to attack Jeong-woo. However, Min-hyung recognizes the man in the footage. The episode ends with Min-hyung coming face-to-face with this mysterious individual.
The Episode Review
This episode unravels the final mystery, piecing together clues to expose the real culprit. True to its theme, Face Me isn’t just about a plastic surgery clinic—it delves into deeper, heartfelt ideas, such as the touching story of a father and son trying to strengthen their bond through surgery.
It also echoes Min-hyung’s assertion that plastic surgery is more akin to “psychosurgery,” with the potential to transform a person’s psychosocial well-being However, while the show introduces these meaningful concepts, it fails to fully explore or integrate them, leaving them feeling like random, underdeveloped plot points.
By the end of this episode, it’s clear that there is more to Min-hyung than meets the eye, especially with the appearance of the unknown man. Is he the hooded figure responsible for stalking and attempting to attack Jeong-woo? Or is he someone entirely new? What connection does he have to Min-hyung?
