Episode 3
Episode 3 of Face Me picks up where the last episode left off, with a car speeding toward Jeong-woo. Min-hyung arrives just in time to prevent the accident. She had spotted a man following Jeong-woo in a stolen car and intervened to stop it.
Meanwhile, at the K-beauty contest, chaos erupts when a woman throws acid on one of the models, Jung Hee-young. Hee-young is rushed to Jeong-woo’s hospital, while the attacker claims to have no memory of the incident. Jeong-woo begins to suspect that the earlier case, initially deemed a suicide, might actually be a homicide.
The suspicion arises when the deceased man’s daughter, who has a burn scar, informs Jeong-woo of Min-hyung’s conversation questioning whether someone with a grudge against him might have killed the man to tarnish his reputation. Min-hyung later tells Jeong-woo the same, recalling her own fiancé’s murder and how she had exposed the murderer’s face to the public.
Elsewhere, Dr. Yoon Seo-hee confronts the hospital director about the free surgery policy for crime victims. During the conversation, she recognizes the deceased man as a participant in the hospital’s volunteer program.
Meanwhile, Hee-young, while receiving treatment, claims she does not know her attacker. The culprit, a housekeeper, arouses Min-hyung’s suspicion despite her husband’s claim that she is on psychiatric medication. The attacker alleges that she threw acid on Hee-young because Hee-young was having an affair with her husband, an accusation Hee-young denies.
The attacker is released, but Min-hyung remains suspicious. She shows the woman a picture of a different acid attack victim and secretly places a camera in Hee-young’s room. Later, Min-hyung follows the attacker, who visits Hee-young, takes a picture of her injured face, and leaves. The camera footage reveals that the attacker was acting on someone else’s orders. Min-hyung and Jeong-woo follow her to a residence, where she collects payment for the attack and leaves.
Amid these events, Hee-young struggles with the devastating consequences of the attack. She has not only lost her relationship but has also been publicly branded an adulteress, jeopardizing her career. Jeong-woo, recalling Hee-young’s lifeless demeanor earlier, rushes back to the hospital to find her on the rooftop. The episode ends with Hee-young standing on the edge, about to jump.
The Episode Review
This episode’s case is both engaging and suspenseful as we follow Min-hyung’s sharp instincts, which lead her to suspect the attacker. Additionally, we learn more about Jeong-woo’s past, specifically his fiancé’s murder.
This seems to be a significant thread in the series, with the possibility that the murderer might have returned to seek revenge on Jeong-woo for exposing him. The question remains: why hasn’t Jeong-woo shared this detail with Min-hyung?
At the same time, the episode reveals Jeong-woo’s compassionate side, showing that beneath his cold demeanor, he genuinely cares about his patients’ well-being. Moreover, there appears to be more to Hee-young’s story, as she is seen talking to a photo of another woman. With so many unanswered questions, the stage is set for the next episode to delve deeper into these intriguing mysteries!
