With Elite Season 4 dropping later this week, a whole host of short stories are scheduled to drop every day leading up to the weekend. It’s a really interesting and compelling idea, something Netflix has never done before. It’s undeniably clever though, with this mini-series acting as a stop-gap between seasons 3 and 4.

This first short story centers on three central characters from the Elite universe, Guzmán, Cayetana and Rebeka. With each episode clocking in at around 10 minutes or so, this is a very easy series to get through. The main premise centers on Rebe, who hosts a house warming party for her friends. Of course, in true Elite fashion this party plays host to an intoxicating, heady blend of drugs and booze.

What follows is a three part romp that sees this trio embarking on all the ups and downs of drug taking. You’ve got the obligatory bad trip, the slurring words and more, spread across three quick-paced chapters. Interestingly, there’s also sprinkled references to the past too.

There really isn’t a whole lot else going on here to be honest, but I won’t go into specifics about the plot for spoiler purposes. Suffice to say, each of the episodes build up the drama nicely with cliffhangers at the end of parts 1 and 2.

Of course, fans of Elite will be in their element here. This is very much a series tailored for those fans, and if you haven’t watched the first 3 seasons, I highly recommend doing so; it’s one wild ride!

However, some will bemoan the lack of action and surprising twists that make Elite such an enthralling watch. However, given the short run-time then it’s easy to look past any shortcomings in that respect.

In its simplest form, Elite Short Stories: Guzmán Caye Rebe essentially culminate in this trio of popular characters taking drugs and partying. If that sounds like your jam then you can’t really go wrong with this one.
