Elite – Season 8 Episode 8 Recap, Review & Ending Explained

End of Term – Recap

The recap of Elite Season 8 Episode 8 begins with Inspector Luis taking Eric’s forgotten knife and slitting Joel’s throat. This gets recorded on Chloe’s phone. At present, Omar has an idea with which he believes he can take down Luis and also make Hector and Emilia Krawietz pay.

How does Omar plan to take down Luis?

Initially, Omar tries to make a deal with Hector and Emilia. He offers them the video of the real culprit. In exchange, he needs a signed confession of them stating that they brutally assaulted him and left him for dead. This way, the siblings can be imprisoned for assault. Emilia doesn’t believe he has the video while Hector tries to strike a deal of his own. He promises to shut down the Alumni club if Omar gives him the video.

Omar is conflicted as this means Hector gets to go scott-free. Unfortunately, after Omar leaves, Hector tells Luis that Omar has the video recording of the real culprit. Luis ransacks Omar’s place and a worried Nadia tells her brother to stop playing games. She shares that they can never beat the rich and it is better to simply report Luis to the cops.

Encouraged, Omar heads to the station but before he can approach Detective Luena, Luis intercepts him. Alone, he tries to assault Omar before Luena interrupts. Omar runs off and tells his friends about the incident. Frustrated, Isa takes matters into her own hands and invites Luis over that night in hopes of seducing and killing him.

Does Isa kill Luis?

Ivan disapproves of the plan but Isa secretly drugs him so he cannot stop her. Meanwhile, Nadia puts it in Omar’s head that maybe they need to pull out the root problem. He catches hold of Sara and asks her to go live. He reveals all of the school’s wrongdoings from Samu and Marina’s murder to the covered-up accidents that almost killed him and Ivan. He rants about how no one is ever held accountable. He then has Sara upload the video of Luis murdering Joel.

At that time, Isa is flirting with Luis in her room. Once he is distracted, she tries to inject him with drugs but he catches on and there is a scuffle.

Luena finally arrives after watching Omar and Sara’s livestream. She finds a drugged Ivan trying to get to Isa. The cops barge in and arrest Luis before he can truly hurt Isa. Ivan and Omar help her up and she calls out Luis for being so jealous of their lives that he tried to force his way in. She then surreptitiously injects Luis as he is being led away. While trying to call out for help, he has a seizure and dies.

Hector and Emilia are freed and they decide to leave. However, Hector keeps his distance from his sister.

Does Carmen get caught for killing Raul?

With Joel’s case being resolved, Dalmar is set free. Afraid that he will release the video that shows Carmen killing Raul, the woman plans on running away with Chloe. But with Chloe wanting to stay, Carmen does try one last time to reason with Dalmar. Should he delete the video, she will give him a hundred grand and also a lawyer to help with his citizenship.

Meanwhile, Sara tries to livestream the final days of high school, but she is not up for it as she can’t move on from Raul’s death. Nico reminds her that Raul was abusive and he got what he deserved. He tells her to move on by livestreaming everyone preparing to leave high school. For his statement, he hopes to patch up with Eric who he loves despite everything. While Operation Seduce Luis is going on, a drugged-up Ivan laments about life being precious and Eric forgives Nico.

After Luis is caught in the end, Dalmar shares the video of Raul being murdered with Sara as he believes she should be the one to have a say in the matter. He believes it is the right thing to do and doesn’t mind if he gets deported for it. We then see Sara warning Eric that she will go after Carmen and Chloe and make them pay.

Eric realises that Chloe is running away and rushes to her place. He wants to come with her but Carmen shares that he should be with his family. But she does believe that if it is meant to be, he and Chloe will reunite someday. Following the bittersweet farewell, Chloe and Carmen leave.

Why is the school shut down?

Following Omar’s outburst online, several concerned parents start protesting. Emboldened, Principal Virginia shuts down the school for good. As for the seniors, for their final exams, Las Encinas enlists the help of a public school. In the end, we see Ivan, Isa, Eric, Sonia, Nico and Sara arriving at the public school. They are extremely over-dressed and awkward as the rest of the students stare at them. And that is the end of the Elite Season 8 Episode 8 recap.

The Episode Review

With Elite Season 8 Episode 8, this scandalous teen mystery comes to an end. There were several highs and lows of the final season with Season 8 finding its groove in the second half. We finally understand Luis’ motivation as he goes from the good cop in the previous season to the antagonist in the finale. Then there’s Omar’s hatred for the school which finally culminates in it being shut down and bringing closure to all the victims.

However, that’s about it for the final episode. A lot of the other mini-conflicts are rushed with tons of plot holes. Does no one look into Luis’ sudden death? Why does Dalmar refuse Carmen’s offer when he literally resorted to blackmail so that he is not deported? Boy had two chances to get his citizenship and he fumbled both.

Poor Nico is absolutely wasted this season and so is Sara who goes from being free of her abuser to trying to avenge him. And the show only brought in Nadia for fanservice, a shame as she goes from one of the strongest characters of the show to a prop in the finale as she already got a deserving send-off twice before.

  1. I was disappointed with how Ivan was treated. At the end of Series 6 he is in a coma in the hospital and Patrick is by his side continuously, even though Ivan had been earlier very angry with Patrick. Then Patrick’s annoying sister Ari comes to the hospital and convinces Patrick to give up the vigil because “what if Ivan comes out of his coma and he’s still angry” and seeing Patrick may set him back.
Then Patrick composes on his phone an incredibly poignant long message which starts with “I have a thousand speeches in my head to try to get you back. But ultimately this message is to say goodbye. I refuse to lose you forever…live in the hope that one day we will meet again.” and ends with “I love you. I love you so much Ivan. I’ve always loved you and I always will.” Then following Ari’s urging, they drive off into the sunset never to be seen again.
Then Ivan comes out of his coma and the first word out of his mouth is “Patrick” but because of Ari, there is nobody there to hear it.
This whole set up would make you think that at the end of the story, Ivan and Patrick would be reunited and live happily ever after. I do realize the Manu Rios who played Patrick was off doing something else, but that doesn’t mean Patrick and Ivan couldn’t have found each other via texts or phone calls.
Instead in Series 8, Ivan gets back from South Africa, being disappointed that Joel didn’t come with him, but then they get back together. All through that series they are fighting one minute, then in bed together the next. The other annoying thing for me was that in Series 5.5 Ivan and Patrick would have deep conversations like when they were out on the lawn or the first time Partrick stayed the night with Ivan. However, Ivan and Joel never had a deep conversation about anything and all through Series 8 it would be nothing but anger, then make up. Ivan’s outpourings of “I love you” couldn’t be taken seriously.
