Remodeling and Employment
Episode 8 of Dungeon People begins with Clay discussing how all dungeons have unique rules and mechanisms. Then, Clay visits Belle and Rangard somewhere. Belle wants to remodel the dungeon’s fifth floor and asks Clay if she wants to make a map for it. Clay isn’t familiar with map making so Belle shows her a map of another area for reference purposes.
Then, Clay and Belle discuss the dungeon’s typical trap layout and why things remain the way they are for the monsters’ safety. After pondering things further, Clay tells Belle they should figure out where the fifth floor’s monsters should be placed first. After that, Clay argues they can work on the floor’s dungeon map. Belle and Rangard are confused by Clay’s response.
She tells Clay she and Rangard typically handle that dilemma with a lottery scheme. Belle tells Clay she’s willing to comply with Clay’s demands for the fifth floor’s layout. However, when Clay tells Belle she wants to listen to everyone’s requests, Belle tells Clay they’ll go with the usual lottery method.
Clay develops a map and asks Rangard to share his thoughts about it with her. Rangard makes some slight tweaks to the design for his golems’ sake. After Belle discusses things further with Clay, she tells Clay she wants to implement everything included in Clay’s layout for it.
Clay and Belle visit the Antomurg Dungeon’s origin point. While the two walk somewhere, two spirits start messing with Clay. Belle pulls the spirits aside and tells them not to harm Clay. Belle tells Clay that these spirits often help her shape each floor’s dungeon layout. She explains each spirit’s preferred task to Clay, too.
After the spirits help Clay and Belle, the two head to the dungeon’s large crystal. Belle completes her task and tells Clay it’s up to Rangard to complete his duty. Clay and Belle visit Rangard. Rangard grabs his magic mallet. He leads Clay and Belle to the area where the fifth floor’s dungeon will be built. He slams his mallet on the ground and the dungeon takes shape before Clay’s eyes.
Then, Belle leads Clay to a large slime. Belle says they’ll use the large slime to help with their dungeon remodel task. Belle rambles about the slime monsters Clay typically encounters in the dungeon. She tells Clay the slime monsters are meant for cleaning not fighting.
Clay learns the slime monsters clean up the dead bodies of monsters and explorers who don’t transform into gems. After that, Belle and Clay hold the monster lottery for the fifth floor’s dungeon. Then, we cut away to Fen and his party. They’re at the fourth floor’s guardian’s door.
Someone tells Fen another party might be fighting the guardian. The episode ends with the Fen and his party waiting for the other party to finish their duel with this floor’s guardian.
The Episode Review
This was an informative and lax chapter of Dungeon People from start to finish. It gives us solid intel on the dungeon remodeling process and an idea of how Belle and Rangard handle the task. From monster lotteries to quirky construction spirits, fans will enjoy receiving new insight into the Antomurg Dungeon’s origins and build process. It gives the Antomurg Dungeon life and allows it to stand out from other fantasy series’s settings.
Additionally, Clay and Belle’s interactions together are charming. It was amusing seeing Clay react to Belle’s usual tirades. It adds a lot to their dynamic, which is one of the best parts of this series.
Additionally, the episode gives fans a brief update on what Fen and his party are up to. These characters aren’t as interesting as Clay and Belle. However, the next chapter teases that Fen and his party will fight Belle next week. Let’s hope Fen and his friends receive solid development because they’re anything but fascinating.
But all in all, this was an enjoyable showcase from Dungeon People.
