Dungeon People – Season 1 Episode 7 Recap & Review

Monster Job Interview

Episode 7 of Dungeon People begins with Fen training somewhere. He wants to defeat the blue armored skeleton who defeated him at the Antomurg Dungeon. Remember, that skeleton was Clay at the time. Then, Fen’s ally Latta arrives and gives him advice. Then, we return to following Clay and Belle.

Belle tells Clay they’ll be interviewing specific monsters soon. Belle tells Clay what type of monsters they’ll be interviewing and that the interviews will contain combat segments. Then, Belle brings Clay to the Antomurg Dungeon’s final room. Belle argues why they’ll be holding the interviews here.

Then, Belle tells Clay she’ll create summoning circles for each interviewee. Belle explains why she’s doing that and starts the process. After Belle summons a dragon candidate, interviews him, and helps him return home, Clay confronts Belle.

Clay wants to know why Belle is holding interviews. Belle understands. She explains that this interview process is more of an educative lecture than an interview session. Clay notices Belle’s hiring anyone and questions Belle about that. Belle understands. She says she likes offering monsters opportunities.

Eventually, Belle summons a monster named Teruru. Teruru greets Belle and Clay in a language Clay can understand. Teruru and Belle discuss the tenth floor, the demon world, and magic gems, the former of which catches Clay’s attention. Once Teruru leaves, Clay asks Belle to explain magic gems to her.

After that, Belle tells Clay that people refer to their world as the demon world. Belle also confirms that monsters can’t use magic and that the magic Shieldmurg (Clay’s goblin rival) used spiritual arts. She explains how monsters perform spiritual arts, why they refer to this world as the demon world, and shares why monsters perceive her as a demon.

Then, Belle summons the next interviewee. The interviewee arrives but Belle learns this isn’t the interviewee. The individual introduces himself as Helldande and confirms he killed the true interviewee. Helldande says he wants Belle to hand him some magic gems. Since Helldande broke the rules, Belle wants to punish him.

Clay offers to murder Helldande and Belle says she’ll allow it. As Clay battles Helldande, Belle observes their battle and realizes Clay’s gotten stronger. Clay defeats Helldande and Belle walks toward him. Helldande tries harming Belle and Belle throws him into the air, allowing Clay to behead Helldande seconds later.

Belle says she’ll turn Helldande into a zombie. Before Clay helps Belle retrieve Helldande’s body, she ponders Belle’s words and her father’s chances of being a zombie. Clay also reflects on how strong she’s gotten. However, Clay argues she still has ways to go until she can fight Belle again.

Then, we cut away to Fen and his group fighting the cat monster Belle interviewed. Fen and his group defeat it. He shares encouraging words with his group and they continue traversing the dungeon. The episode ends with Clay trying to speak the dragon interviewee’s language.

The Episode Review

Dungeon People offers anime fanatics a fine chapter this week. This episode delivers depth, action, and comedy to keep folks invested. The interviews were fast and snappy, with a few of them leading to noteworthy discussions. Some notable topics include the monsters’ perception of Belle and the dungeon she administers.

Additionally, the episode gave fans a look at Belle’s darker side, a side that’s not brought up often in this work. While it’s unfortunate we didn’t see Belle delivering the punishment herself, it’s neat seeing how far Clay has come since her early dungeon endeavors. I’m excited to see what a future rumble between Clay and Belle will look like.

Speaking of fights, it’s strange that Belle told Clay the interviews would contain combat segments. Besides the unexpected Helldande mishap, none of the other interviews contained action portions. Moreover, this episode gave fans more scenes with Fen and his group.

This band of explorers hasn’t been “explored” to great detail like Clay, so audiences may not find their goals and activities enticing. Hopefully, future chapters can give Fen, Latta, and his group the development and care they deserve, otherwise, they’ll remain bland and forgettable. But all in all, Dungeon People episode 7 provides a decent experience.
