Dragon Ball Daima – Season 1 Episode 5 Recap & Review

Panzy

Episode 5 of Dragon Ball Daima begins with Panzy chatting with Glorio, Shin, and Goku. Before Goku and his allies depart, Goku tells Panzy he and his friends are going to Kadan Castle. Glorio and the others refuse to tell Panzy why. Panzy tags along with our heroes on their journey. 

Meanwhile, a Gendarmerie soldier looks around the battlefield. The soldier’s furious that Goku attacked him and his allies. He orders everyone to track Goku down. Meanwhile, Panzy hands Goku food and shares details about herself with Goku and his friends. 

Panzy claims she can use magic. Goku asks Panzy to prove it. Panzy lifts a rock with her powers but struggles. Goku praises Panzy for her effort. Panzy claims she’s great at tinkering with machines. She asks Shin if he’s a Glind and Shin confirms he is. 

She claims Glinds occasionally depart to the outside world. Panzy and the others reach a split pathway. She tells the others to take the right path. As they explore, Panzy argues Gomah’s gold coin policy is worse than Dabura’s. She also says that people can only live up to 1,000 years in the Demon World. 

Eventually, our heroes reach Kadan Castle. Glorio tells the others that Kadan has the persona of a uncivilized mafia boss. Meanwhile, one of Gomah’s workers reads Dende a bedtime story. Remember, Dende is a baby now because of Gomah’s wish. 

Gomah arrives. He tells his worker to read more passionately to Dende. Gomah wants Dende to grow to like them so he’ll make Gomah new Dragon Balls. Glorio and the others chat with Kadan’s guards. The guard refers to Panzy as a princess, much to Glorio and the others’ surprise. 

Panzy leads the others to Kadan’s throne room. Kadan arrives. He wonders why Glorio brought kids to his castle. Shin and Panzy tell Kadan that Goku is a strong warrior. Kadan understands. He wants someone to defeat Gomah. 

Kadan wants to become the Demon Realm’s Supreme King to establish peace. He tells Kadan that if everything goes well, Goku can marry Panzy. Panzy yells at Kadan and Kadan tells her the marriage wouldn’t happen until she’s older. Goku tells Kadan he has a wife and kids, much to Panzy and Kadan’s surprise. 

Shin informs the two that Gomah wished for Goku and others to become toddlers. Shin says they must rescue Dende or make a wish using the Demon Realm’s Dragon Balls. Kadan and Panzy are unsure if Goku and his friends can defeat their realm’s Tamagamis. 

Glorio asks Kadan if they can borrow a new aircraft. Kadan doesn’t mind. However, Kadan wants Goku to demonstrate his fighting ability. Goku accepts and fights Kadan’s army. After Goku defeats the army, Kadan shows Goku and his friends an aircraft they can use. 

Kadan says he’ll supply them with food, water, weapons, etc. He also has one of his men rewrite the aircraft’s data. Kadan says it’ll convince Warp to let Goku and the others travel to different areas since the usual pin number won’t work. 

Shin asks Kadan if he could do something for Bulma and the others. He wants to ensure that they can visit the Demon Realm. Kadan asks his majin ally Hybis to head to Earth and pick up Bulma and the others. Kadan tells his other men to steal an aircraft from a rival gang for Hybis to use.

Kadan spots Panzy with her belongings. Panzy says she wants to travel with Goku and his friends. She tells Kadan why it’d be great for them to have her accompany them. Goku promises to protect Panzy. Shin chats with Goku privately. He’s concerned that Glorio’s hiding something. 

Goku understands but says everything should be fine. Glorio and the others enter the aircraft and depart. During their departure, the aircraft’s engine malfunctions. Panzy turns around and argues they may have packed too much belongings. The episode ends with Glorio and the others crash landing somewhere. 

The Episode Review

Panzy is officially on the team. This episode gave us neat about Panzy regarding her royal status, abilities, and personality. Many fans can’t wait to see how she and Bulma will interact with each other due to their shared passion for technology. Despite being a skilled technician, Panzy demonstrates some psychic ability. 

Glorio already evoked Han Solo vibes. Having Panzy use a “force” like ability will certainly get Star Wars fans excited. Yet, like Goku, it may be in Panzy’s best interest to master that power while she’s traveling with our heroes. Maybe Goku or someone else can help with that. 

Additionally, this chapter had some neat action and comedy moments. Some examples include Goku’s battle with Kadan’s army and Kadan’s occasional jokes about romance and theft. It’s beautiful to see that classic Toriyama storytelling in this anime. 

On top of leaving fans with something to contemplate regarding Glorio’s character, this was an interesting episode of Dragon Ball Daima. Hopefully, Bulma and the others will arrive sooner than later.
