Chatty
Episode 4 of Dragon Ball Daima begins with Shin, Goku, and Glorio leaving town. Glorio is peeved that bandits stole his vehicle. Goku suggests they fly, but Glorio says it’s tough to fly with the third world’s air. Our trio go for a walk. They arrive near a cliff that’s next to the Sea of Darkness.
Glorio, Shin, and Goku decide to fly. A strange monster attacks our heroes. Glorio fights the beast. He knocks it into the Sea of Darkness. Our trio head somewhere. During their walk, a monster attacks them. Goku defeats it seconds later.
Eventually, our heroes arrive at another town and visit a restaurant there. After eating, Glorio chats with the restaurant owner’s wife. The owner’s wife asks her husband to speak with Glorio. Glorio asks the owner if he has an aircraft. The owner says he can lend Glorio a Sky Seed for money.
Glorio gets the owner to lower the Sky Seed’s price. Goku and Shin look at a certain bug. The owner’s wife tells them that it’s called a Medi Bug. Goku holds a bug. The owner’s wife tells Goku has a Revive Bug. The owner’s wife says it can restore anyone’s stamina.
Shin looks at a particular bug. The owner’s wife tells Shin that it’s called a Join Bug. If two people eat each of its halves, they can fuse for a period to become much stronger. Goku convinces Glorio to buy some Medi Bugs. After that, the owner leads Glorio, Goku, and Shin to a Sky Seed boarding site.
Then, the owner’s wife arrives with a cannon-like device carrying the Sky Seed. Glorio gives Shin and Goku more details about the Sky Seed. Glorio, Shin, and Goku hop on the Sky Seed. The owner and his wife tell our trio to hold on to the Sky Seed.
The two launch the Sky Seed and bid Goku, Glorio, and Shin farewell. Before Goku, Glorio, and Shin fall into the Sea of Darkness, they hop off the Sky Seed. Our trio land somewhere and discuss how long it’ll take them to reach King Kadan’s castle.
Glorio says it’ll take them half a day to reach the castle. The three decide to walk. During their walk, they discuss the Demon Realm’s Dragon Balls. Glorio says all three demon worlds have a Dragon Ball. He tells Goku and Shin that the Tamagamis guard the balls.
Glorio says they must defeat the Tamagamis if they want to use the Dragon Balls. Goku wants to gather the Dragon Balls but Shin reminds him they must rescue Dende first. Glorio chimes in. He suggests they gather the Demon Realm’s Dragon Balls to rescue Dende.
Once they do that, Glorio says they can use Earth’s Dragon Balls to return to normal. Goku and Shin agree with the plan. Eventually, our heroes arrive at the next town. Glorio spots the Gendarmerie and insists everyone hide. He tells Shin and Goku the Gendarmerie are the Supreme Demon King’s military police.
The Gendarmerie wants to gather the villagers’ offerings. He reminds them that Gomah is the new Supreme Demon King. He tells them their living price has gone up. He tells them what’ll happen to them if they can’t pay. He also reminds the villagers that they’re wearing magic collars to help him and his men track them down.
Goku wants to help the villagers but Glorio tells him not to. He tries holding back but refuses. Before Goku does something, a masked individual confronts the Gendarmerie about their activities. The masked person throws a Wasabi Bomb at the Gendarmerie.
The Wasabi Bomb is ineffective so the masked person attempts to flee. The Gendarmerie chase them to a dark alley. Before they hurt the individual, Goku steps in and saves them. Before the final Gendarmerie member confronts Goku, Shin tells Goku to retreat with him and Glorio.
They head to a canyon to discuss what happened. The masked person confronts our heroes. The masked person removes their mask and we learn they’re a demon girl. The episode ends with a close-up shot of a demon girl.
The Episode Review
Unfortunately, Glorio, Goku, and Shin didn’t find Glorio’s stolen vehicle. However, it’s possible they got a new ally in return. This demon girl may be a great companion to have on the team. While her bombs weren’t effective against the Gendarmerie, her fighting spirit is praiseworthy.
It’s possible Bulma can teach her a thing or two about tech once she and the others arrive at the Demon Realm. Speaking of the Demon Realm, this episode gave fans some fun lore about the realm. From its exceptional Medi Bugs lore to its different creatures’ living situations and goals, seeing Toriyama go into detail about this place is awesome.
I’m excited to see what future episodes will unveil about this area. On that note, Glorio remains a mysterious figure. While Glorio’s an admirable fighter, the moment between him and Shin in this episode will make viewers ponder if he’s withholding details.
Hopefully, we’ll learn the truth about this Han Solo-like demon soon enough. Coupled with great action and fine comedy, this was a fun episode of Dragon Ball Daima.
