Operation Thingus
Dinner with the Parents Episode 4 begins with David hesitantly pushing a card into Jenny’s house. Back at his house, Harvey and Jane discuss setting Gregg up with a girl and they tell Gregg that David is smarter, which triggers him. Following this, Jane is unable to find her blender, which Suzan claims to have returned.
After arriving home, David pranks Gregg by giving him wasabi-filled chocolates. Following this, David reveals that he made a card for Jenny. At this point, Jane and Harvey urge him to show them the mural, but Gregg sees it on the screen. He calls the rest of the family and they are shocked to see it resembles the shape of a penis. As a consequence, David realizes he has to take back the mural from her house.
Shortly after, they devise a plan under the leadership of Gregg. As they go about with the plan, Nana attempts to squeeze through Jenny’s dog door as discussed. Just then, Donnie comes for a walk and Jane plays her part to distract him. Nana successfully makes it in. Following this, Harvey sees Jimmy’s top gun maverick plane and gets jealous.
Nana successfully locates the card, but suddenly there’s a call on the landline. She answers the phone and tells the cable operators off. She then grabs the mural and just as she is about to leave, Jane asks her to look for her blender as well. Meanwhile, David updates them about Jenny.
Nana begins to look for the blender in the cabinets and finally finds it. Unable to reach the blender, she uses a ladder but ends up causing the other shelves to collapse, and she spills everything. Gregg calls emergency, and they all head into the house to clean up the mess.
At Jenny’s house, Gregg accidentally knocks over the plane model, causing it to break. As a consequence, he calls in Harvey to put it back together. The others clean the pantry and Jane fills the flour box with expired flour from their house. Following this, David goes looking for Nana and finds her in Jenny’s room.
Unfortunately, just as Harvey, Gregg, and Jane are about to leave, Jenny and her boyfriend reach the door. The three hide in the passage while Jenny and her boyfriend make out and head to her room. In her room, David and Nana hide under the bed.
While escaping, Harvey stamps a Lego piece and lets out a scream. Jenny and her boyfriend are alerted and come down cautiously. At the same time, Donnie enters with his dog and claims he saw the door was left open. David and Nana take the opportunity to leave.
Later at dinner, David is unable to find his phone. When Harvey calls, Jenny picks up the phone and the episode comes to a close.
The Episode Review
This episode follows the Langer family as they embark on a mission to salvage their oldest son’s image in front of his crush. This leads to a heist at the Spiegel house, where, as expected, one thing leads to another and the situation quickly snowballs, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats, wondering how they will handle the escalating chaos.
Fortunately, the family demonstrates excellent coordination skills, with each member proving to be a valuable team player. Gregg and Nana shine in this episode, playing crucial roles. However, the episode throws a curveball at the end when it seems the entire family has safely escaped, only for it to be revealed later that David forgot his phone under his bed.
