Deep Night – Season 1 Episode 3 Recap & Review

Episode 3

Deep Night Episode 3 and it’s auction night at the club. The ladies bid in drinks for time with their favorites. A secret VIP bids 1000 drinks for Wela. When Wela is taken to meet his date, it’s Khem holding a bouquet of flowers.

While the others meet their dates at the club, Wela and Khem head out for a sweet date, kissing and holding hands. Taking a break from his customer, Seji cheers up a pouting Japan. He notes a desire to be the #1 club host.

During their romantic evening, Khem admits that Freya is his Mom but Wela isn’t surprised. They take things home for a little playful bondage but before things get too heated, there’s a flurry of text messages from Japan.

Police arrive at Deep Night, taking one guest away and lining up everyone else. One guest streams live to an increasingly growing digital audience. Freya spots it from home and puts out a call for help.

In the breakroom, Ken and Seji share food from Seji’s grandmother, chatting and revealing each other’s real names like they’re close. They have a moment but Japan walks in on it. Hastily, Seji claims it’s nothing but Ken looks hurt.

As a pep talk, Freya congratulates everyone on handling the police invasion well. She also promotes Khem to PR for spotting and stopping the incident with the influencer, wanting him to help match guests and hosts.

That evening, a VIP guest requests Wela but Khem steers her toward other hosts, saying he’s already occupied. Wela’s with a male guest and Khem struggles to watch. The guest asks about having a boyfriend but Wela explains its not the job for having a partner.

A pair of guests select Seji and Ken asking them to play ‘boys love’ actors for the night. Ken jumps straight into character, tying Seji’s shoe and fixing his hair. The girls squeal their delight.

Outside, James speaks to Khem about his obvious agitation while watching Wela, noting it’s not easy to love someone in this job. For the second time tonight, Wela smooths things with Khem. Making out in the parking lot, Khem tells Wela he’ll punish him if he makes him jealous again. Then Khem arranges for Wela’s guest to have 6 additional hosts for the night, as if he’s won a prize.

After work, with heat between them, Khem asks Wela to be his secret boyfriend. And Wela agrees to break the rules.

The Episode Review

Things are heating up as Khem can’t keep his eyes or lips of Wela, even at work. While the others are taking notice, they’re just as bad at rule keeping, struggling to stay away from the each other. But James isn’t wrong – it’ll be a mess if they get too involved. Khem’s jealousy is already impacting the club.

From the start, Freya has been extremely keen to both keep her business successful and ready her son to take over some day. Will that be possible if Khem and Wela stay together? How forgiving will she be if she has to choose between her son and her other pride, Deep Night?

Back to the kiss-o-meter, there’s no denying the chemistry between Khem and Wela. They jumped into a boyfriend-ship pretty quickly for Wela not wanting to have any relationships at all. Clearly, he can’t resist – though I would have liked to have seen the connection develop a little more to validate his previous ‘loner’ persona. Still, we’ve only got 5 more episodes – there must be more coming to have them jump into the fire so quickly.

What are your thoughts? Did the relationship develop satisfactorily for you?
