Dish 10 The Trio of Friends: Like Three Essential Elements in Trio Paste
Episode 10 of Cooking Crush starts at the Super Monster Chef competition. Prem’s team is almost disqualified from the competition before it even begins because they are a member less, but Ten steps in at the last minute and saves them. We are then taken back to where we left off, with Prem and Dynamite knocking on Samsi’s door after their fight and Samsi leaving their friend’s group and quitting the competition.
Ten stops Prem and Dynamite and asks them to give Samsi time to be alone. Later, Samsi opens up to Metha about his fear that his friends will leave him behind someday. He says he is not mad that they kept a secret from him but is afraid of being left behind since he does not have many friends.
Samsi does not talk to the group until the day of the competition, making Dynamite and Prem want to quit. However, Ten arrives in time to stop them from quitting and helps him deal with the bullies from his class. Fire and Dynamite show up to give Prem and Dynamite a boost of energy since they feel down about Samsi ignoring them and are scared to join the competition.
Ten assures that Samsi will show up no matter what, and when he does not, Ten shows up as the group’s third member. However, Chef Chang Ma stops Ten from joining, saying it is against the rule, but the chief judge allows Prem and Dynamite to compete as a group of two, and the competition starts.
Prem and Dynamite are at a disadvantage, especially when the judges decide to include a surprise obstacle by cutting off power during the competition, and the participants have to find a workaround and ensure they finish their dish on time without using any appliances.
Prem’s team hits an even bigger challenge when Prem and Dynamite bump into each other, and all the prawns, essential for their main dish, scatter on the floor. In a surprising turn of events, Samsi arrives in time with new prawns, and the judges allow him to join the competition. Fire and Ten, watching on a screen outside, sighs in relief.
During the grading time, the judges wondered why Prem’s team spent much time making a simple dish, and they explained in detail the significance of the dish they chose to make, “deep-fried prawns wrapped in noodles with trip paste smoked mayo.” The main ingredient, the prawns, are from Samsi’s hometown, while the noodles symbolise Prem’s Chinese-Thai heritage.
Consequently, the smoked wood fire captures Dynamite’s fiery intensity, and the dish represents their tight bond as friends and the distinctive features that make each one special as they come together as a perfect trio. The dish is an apology to Samsi and the friends made up on live television, making the judges and the audience teary. During the break, Samsi talks to his friends about his fear that they will ditch him once they get boyfriends.
Ten wants to ask Prem to be his boyfriend, but he does not get a chance yet since Prem has asked to concentrate on the competition first. Chang Ma stops Ten on his way to bring the friends some drinks and tells him that he is interested in Prem and will be making major moves to win him over. He says he can go after Prem since he and Ten have yet to be officially.
Prem’s team advances to the next round of the competition. Dynamite is not confident about the upcoming shows because they barely made it through the first round. Fire psyches him up by promising to tell everyone they are dating if they win the Super Monster Chef competition. Consequently, Metha pushes Ten to ask Prem to be his boyfriend.
When they have some alone time, Prem tries to muster enough courage to ask Prem to be his boyfriend, but he starts by telling him a story about when they were back at the Suphanburi, and they put their hands in the oven mitten together. Mentioning the oven mitten reminds Prem that he left him in the competition room, and he runs back inside to get them.
Coincidentally, he overhears some staff talk about the judges advancing Prem’s team to the next round as a joker that will boost the show ratings. On his way out, he runs into Chang Ma and shares what he heard. Chang Ma pulls a reluctant Prem into a hug, saying that hugging him will give Prem more reassurance than talking, but Prem suddenly pulls Chang Ma off and punches him. Another staff member sees the altercation and asks if Chang Ma wants to do anything about it.
Ten pulls Prem outside and tells him about Chang Ma’s warning for him to stay away from Prem since they are not official yet and shares his concern that he cannot fully protect Prem since he has no status in his life. At the end of the episode, Ten finally asks Prem to be his boyfriend. He agrees, and the episode ends with the two happy couples sharing a deep kiss.
The Episode Review
Ten and Prem hit another milestone in this episode, proving the importance of communication in a relationship. They do not let a third party, Chang Ma, get in the way, and they choose to support each other regardless of the situation. However, I think Ten punching Chang Ma (even though he deserved it) might affect Prem’s competition.
Chang Ma is a famous chef, probably with millions of followers, and the staff who asks if he wants to hold them accountable might be responsible for the aftermath if it happens.
What will happen between Prem and Ten in the face of public criticism? Will they still stick together? The episode ends with a deep uncertainty about what happens next because of the confrontation between Ten and Chang Ma.
The next episode is the “cursed” 11th episode in the BL series, where a great rift occurs between the main couple. Will Ten and Prem be spared, or will they face the inevitable separation in the upcoming episode?
