Not Your Girlfriend
The Past: 1996 and 2009
Class of ’09 episode 4 begins when Drew was working as an FBI agent before becoming a trainer at the FBI academy in Quantico. Drew was helping other FBI agents catch a criminal, who overpowers the FBI agents who are arresting him. Drew goes to help them, but one of the FBI agents thinks she’s a criminal as she doesn’t have a badge on her neck. So, the FBI agent shoots her.
Back to 2009, Drew and Gabriel are teaching the FBI class of 2009 about the guns the FBI grandaunts have been given once they graduate throughout the years. They also teach the trainees how to decide whether or not to kill a criminal.
Drew and Gabriel then ask the trainees to show their experiences with guns. Tayo seems to know how to use a gun. When asked by Gabriel how he knew to use a firearm, Tayo tells him that he had learnt to use one at a shooting range. Tayo also tells Gabriel that he learnt how to use a gun not to shoot people but not to be shot. It’s Hour’s turn to show her experience with a gun, and she mentions she has never used one.
We’re then taken back to when Hour tells her parents she applied to join the FBI academy and was accepted. Hour’s parents aren’t on board with Hour’s decision to join the FBI mainly because they’re immigrants.
Hour had decided to tell her parents about her joining the FBI because she didn’t want to fail the polygraph test that the FBI academy would require her to take. She was afraid she would be discovered she was lying if the question of whether or not she told her parents about her joining the FBI came up.
Hour takes the polygraph test. But, before she does, Hour begins asking the person asking her the questions for the test, questions about how they conclude whether or not one has passed the polygraph test. She also asks the individual how they store the data they collect from these tests. This individual then thinks that Hour asking all these questions is a way of her not wanting to take the test. But, Hour is just curious, and it seems this is where the idea of her technology system was derived from.
The trainees later take a shooting test. The test involved the trainees deciding whether or not to shoot cut-out pictures of people, some of which are criminals holding a gun, that pop up in front of them. Hour and Tayo pass, but Ashley does not.
In Hour and Ashley’s room, Ashley prepares for a date with Daniel Lennix. Ashley is having a dilemma on whether or not to go on a date with Daniel and whether dating Daniel will distract her from working to become an FBI agent. But Hour assures it’s okay to go out.
Then, Drew comes to their room and asks Ashley to come with her. She takes Ashley to retake her polygraph test, which seems odd to her. Later, she asks Daniel if he retook his polygraph test, and Daniel tells her he did. Ashley asks him if he mentioned anything about their relationship, and Daniel tells her he didn’t. Ashley then tells Daniel she said something about it because she feared failing the polygraph test.
Ashley asks Daniel if Drew and Gabriel should know about their relationship, but Daniel tells her it’s not their business to know.
Later, Drew meets with Ashley and talks to her about her polygraph test and her relationship with Daniel. Drew advises Ashley to be careful as she has seen that when most couples among the FBI trainees break up, the lady is always significantly affected. Drew then tells Ashley about how she was accidentally shot by an FBI agent and blamed for what happened.
The Present: 2023
Back to the present, Tayo uses Hour’s technology system during Mark Tupirik’s interrogation. Of course, Mark Tupirik knows more than what he’s letting Tayo know. He even knows Tayo is one of the highest-ranking FBI agents.
Meanwhile, Hour and her team are trying to figure out where the truck Mark Tupirik was in when he was arrested was heading.
Later, Ashley and Hour talk about the polygraph tests they took while they were trainees at Quantico. Hour mentions she lied about some things during her test. Elsewhere, Tayo asks Mark Tupirik to look at some pictures on his tablet. Tayo notices Mark Tupirik seems nervous and suspects he knows he’s about to be exposed. Meanwhile, several men in construction uniforms enter the FBI headquarters basement. It seems they’re planning to destroy the place.
Tayo shows Mark Tupirik these pictures as Hour monitors his heart palpitations and blood pressure. That way, they’ll know who his accomplice is. Mark then sees the picture of a man who happens to be a trainer at the FBI academy in Quantico. His bodily functions indicate he knows the man.
Meanwhile, the guy suspected to be Mark Tupirik’s accomplice shoots almost all the trainees and Drew during a shooting test. Fortunately, Drew manages to shoot this guy dead.
Ashley realizes who the guy that Mark Tupirik seemingly identifies as his accomplice. She calls Daniel and asks to meet him. Just then, there’s an alert for people to exit the FBI headquarters. As people are exiting, Ashley goes to the basement and finds the men who accessed the headquarters in the process of destroying the building. Ashley manages to shoot them, and then Daniel comes and gets her out of there.
Unfortunately, the FBI headquarters building collapses with Ashley and Daniel still inside.
The Future: 2034
Ashley visits Daniel to ask him not to be involved in her investigation of Tayo’s technology system. However, Daniel is insistent on helping her investigate Tayo’s system. They begin talking about their relationship and how Ashley is always on edge, even when something good, like her relationship with Daniel, is happening in her life.
The Episode Review
We now know more about where Hour’s technology system idea came from. I wonder if Drew’s advice to Ashley when she was dating Daniel while in the FBI academy may have been the start of them growing apart.
It seems the news Mark Tupirik was telling Tayo about is the FBI headquarters building collapsing. Do Ashley and Daniel survive when the building collapses with them inside? Does Drew survive after being shot? Also, who is this FBI academy trainer who’s Mark Tupirik’s accomplice? Tune into the next episode to find out.
