Cantata
Cantata is a Grand Tactics-type sci-fi strategy game that is best described as Advance Wars meets Dune. This title from Modern Wolf and Afterschool Studio has been in Early Access for a while but it’s official release is now almost upon us.
In this colourful space-based epic, you will choose a commanding officer from one of three factions. You will then be sent to the frontlines of a war-torn planet where you must capture regions, build structures, expand your army, and manage your resources.
Official synopsis:
“A rebellion has broken out disrupting the military force controlling the galaxy titled the 111th Reign of Humanity and Prosper, a swarm of robots calling themselves the “Unified Spirit” have risen up against the shackles of their human masters with the dream of a better world. The final stand is taking place on the unexplored planet of Shoal, where legends, Gods and creatures of the shadows meet reality… unknown to humans or robots, the planet itself has awoken – and its people are fighting to save it.
Play as a Commanding Officer for each faction as you work your way through the campaign to uncover the planet, crush the rebellion or to create a better world. Manage your resources, troops and capture regions across the planet’s surface. Be careful of your choices, it is not only the enemy forces you must watch out for but the treacherous planet itself.”

What platforms is Cantata releasing on?
This real-time strategy game is coming to PC and Mac on August 15, 2023. At the time of writing, there seems to be no plans for a console release.

Is Cantata single-player or multiplayer?
Cantata has a single-player campaign mode where you can take control of three unique factions during the game’s story. There is also a multiplayer mode that supports local and online play. This includes a Map Editor and Skirmish Mode that gives you the opportunity to create your own battlefields to challenge your friends and share with the community.

Will Cantata have any DLC?
When the game leaves Early Access, a deluxe “Dreamwalker” version will be available which includes the base game, the Cantata OST, and Digital Wallpapers at £25.50/$31.18/€26.98 – with a 20% discount on launch week.
How long is Cantata?
The single-player aspect of the game will have 27 hours of story content to delve into so this isn’t a game you’ll be able to finish in one sitting!
As the game contains various multiplayer modes, including the Map Editor that allows you to create your own battlefields, this is one game that can be played for as long as it pleases you.
