Blood & Water – Season 4 Episode 5 “Too Little, Too Late” Recap & Review

Too Little, Too Late

Episode 5 of Water & Blood Season 4 begins with the cops looking for Fikile but no luck. Anthony moves in with Thandeka and is supportive but Siya and Brian don’t like it. Ruff Beats makes KB and Chris strip and puts them in his chicken coup as ransom but their parents don’t respond to him. 

Grootboom tells Wendy that KB and Chris are the ones selling the exam papers. She looks for them and constantly texts Chris but Ruff gets those. He decides to blackmail her for the money.

Wade keeps giving Asanda the cold shoulder and she proposes to him publicly. Her friends run off but she doesn’t care as Wade kisses her. Puleng refuses to help as she believes Fikile doesn’t care about her. Leigh-Anne feels bad about the sex tape and Tahira comforts her saying no one is bad.

Wendy is conflicted about helping Chris but her mother says if she can help, she should. But if he loves her he would not lie to her. Wendy steals some gold coins from her mother and gets Lunga and Tahira to help her.

Damian tells Fiks to confess live but she just apologises to Puleng and he is furious. But it works as Puleng is moved and forms a plan – Gregory for Fiks.

Right when Wendy is about to meet with Ruff, Chris and KB decide to threaten him with his precious chickens. They start running and almost run past Wendy and the rest before they escape in their car. They go to Chris’ home only to find Ruff waiting for them there.

Gregory claims Damian was a problematic drunk but he won’t help Fiks. Sam punches him and they kidnap Gregory. A cop catches them for speeding and hears Gregory in the boot. Before everyone can get out, Puleng speeds off with Gregory.

Ruff threatens to cut Chris’ finger but Wendy uses logic and negotiates with him. He will get a year’s royalty from KB, credit and an apology. Chris is grateful to her but she cannot keep up with his lies and cries.

On hearing that Puleng will be arriving, Fiks promises to come clean so Damian doesn’t hurt her. A flashback shows the seniors violently bullying Damian. He was on the swim team and liked Fiks. Gregory makes Fiks bring Damian to a “pool party” where they get drunk. He makes Fiks go out to get some drinks and is rough with Damian in the pool. When he retaliates, Gregory gets mad and drowns him.

Scared, everyone runs off while Fiks gives him CPR. Damian survives but suffers a stroke. The aftermath gets ugly as the swim team lawyers up and makes up solid alibis. Only Fiks can help Damian but both Gregory and Malta tell her she will be convicted so to stay quiet. She lies and claims she doesn’t know what happened.

At the end of Water & Blood Season 4 Episode 5, Fiks apologises to Damian who realises that he will be imprisoned if he lets her go. He takes a gun and points it at her.

The Episode Review

Fine, Water & Blood Season 4 Episode 5 lays the foundation for Fikile’s redemption arc. But honestly, it is Puleng who is the star of the show as she puts it rightly that she is one who always ends up doing everything to save and help Fiks. But we do wonder how it will play out in the finale since Damian knows he won’t be going scott-free even if he gets his hands on Gregory.

As for Chris and KB, while they are in an equally dangerous situation, their segments almost feel hilarious from the chicken hostage to going back to the first place where the bad guys would be looking for them. Of course, they are amateurs so the whole thing makes the otherwise heavy episode quite entertaining and funny.
