Blink 182 is a heralded band in the music scene, a pop-punk powerhouse, and they released their album One More Time last year. The album has done well, but the act had some songs left that had potential but did not make it on the main release. This brings forth One More Time Part-2, which contains 7 new songs that do not break the glass ceiling in terms of quality or impact.

The tracks are fine for being extras, and they do offer a lyrical direction. At points, the words used have substance and overall sheen. Sometimes we can get caught up in dramatics, and hyperbolic tendencies, but these songs have something about them. As mentioned, the impact is not there to make this record a masterstroke, though there is enough punch to commit to the themes and value.

‘Can’t Go Back’ delivers a sombre note and wordplay which is poetic, and Mark Hoppus and Tom Delonge take turns at singing their hearts out. The immaculate drumming serves up a contrast, from Travis Barker. It is a good start to these 7 songs, and it’s a stab at poetry.

‘Everyone Everywhere’ begins with a solid guitar riff and the vocals come in slowly. The band is on top of the world here, and the chorus bursts in rapidly. It is another fast and volatile track.

‘One Night Stand’ has a simple riff, and the lyrics again show ingenuity. The chorus fits in seamlessly as the madness ensues.

The second chapter of One More Time has its moments. It is not a second wave of brilliance though.
