Episode 7
Episode 7 of Black Out (Snow White Must Die) starts with a flashback of Geon-ho watching a bunch of kids bullying Su-oh. Jeong-woo shows up there and tries to stop the boys but ends up getting bullied by them instead. Jeong-woo fights back and protects Su-oh with all his might which prompts Geon-oh to defend his twin brother as well.
The twins and Jeong-woo have some ice cream post-fight. The episode moves back to the present day as Geon-ho apologises to Jeong-woo for what happened. He gives the suitcase to Jeong-woo and the latter finds that it contains Bo-young’s purple backpack. At the same time, Gu-tak asks Heung-soo and Choo-ho to bring Geon-ho back before he hands the suitcase to Jeong-woo.
Jeong-woo is shocked upon seeing the bag and looks inside it. He finds Bo-young’s phone there and tries to turn it on. Jeong-woo runs to the storage to find an old charger and tries to turn on the phone. At the same time, Hyung-sik takes Ha-seol to visit Su-oh but she gets uncomfortable with him during the ride.
Na-kyeom hosts a call reunion and tries to get some information about Bo-young from her batchmates. Min-soo and Byeong-moo arrive just in time and try to avoid talking about Bo-young. There is tension in the air when Min-soo and Byeong-moo advise Na-kyeom to refrain from associating herself with Jeong-woo, an ex-convict.
Na-kyeom is appalled by the comment and asks the two to stop contacting Jeong-woo once she convinces him to leave Mucheon for good. Ha-seol is finally able to talk to Su-oh in private when she tells him that there are no paintings in the greenhouse. Su-oh is frazzled by the information and asks Ha-seol to give his paintings to Jeong-woo at the earliest.
Hyung-sik notices Su-oh’s discomfort and barges into the room to see what is happening. Ha-seol states that Su-oh wants to make paintings and distracts Su-oh. Gu-tak arrives home and is about to rush to Jeong-woo’s house when Dong-min and Jae-hee show up there. Dong-min tells the cop that he did not want to cremate Bo-young after years of trying to find her. Jae-hee opposes and the couple have an argument at Gu-tak’s house.
Bo-young’s phone finally turns on and Jeong-woo goes through the messages on it. In the meantime, Heung-soo and Choo-ho arrive at Jeong-woo’s house and try to take Geong-woo and the suitcase before Jeong-woo shows up. Geon-oh resists and runs inside Jeong-woo’s bedroom. He tries to hide a notebook that was inside Bo-young’s bag but Heung-soo pries the door open and snatches the bag from him.
Choo-ho puts the bag in the suitcase and is about to take Geon-oh away when Jeong-woo hides the phone in the storage room and goes back inside the house. The two men beat Jeong-woo and knocked him out as they took Geon-oh to Gu-tak’s house.
At the same time, Sang-cheol calls Jeong-woo to check up on him and hears a muffled noise from the other side. He visits Jeong-woo’s house and finds him passed out. Ha-seol returns to Mucheon just in time and passes by Jeong-woo’s house. Sang-cheol calls an ambulance and asks Ha-seol to take care of him at the hospital while he investigates the attack on Jeong-woo.
Choo-ho has an argument with Gu-tak for treating him and Heung-soo as their doormat but Heung-soo tries to beg at Gu-tak’s feet, asking him to help them out of this mess. Ha-seol learns that Jeong-woo is weak and needs to rest in the hospital for a few days.
At the same time, Sang-cheol tries to find clues to get to the person who had attacked Jeong-woo. He ends up spending the night in the storage room and finds Bo-young’s phone there. On the phone, he finds a video from the night of Bo-young’s murder which shows Geon-oh, Byeong-moo and Min-su drinking with Bo-young at the warehouse.
The video also shows Bo-young asking Geon-oh to go home and return with a bottle of expensive liquor. At the same time, Geon-oh tells Gu-tak that he was overcome by guilt and would be turning himself in for the crime he committed. Gu-tak tries to stop him and locks him up in one of the rooms, forcing him to behave until he can be sent back to the USA. Jeong-woo gets back home from the hospital and runs into Sang-cheol.
Sang-cheol scolds Jeong-woo for trying to hide the phone which had evidence against his friends. Jeong-woo kicks Sang-cheol out of his room and finds the textbook that Geon-oh had hidden there. The textbook contains Bo-young’s underwear that was missing. Sang-cheol asks Jeong-woo to keep this information a secret from Gu-tak as they do not know where his loyalty stands.
Gu-tak shows up at Jeong-woo’s house and Sang-cheol tells him about the attack on Jeong-woo from the night before that left him in the hospital. Jeong-woo calls Byeong-moo and Min-soo to his house to chat with them. At the same time, Choo-ho and Heung-soo discuss how Gu-tak was treating them badly.
Choo-ho is tired of this and tells Ha-seol that she can stay for as long as she wants. At the same time, Na-kyeom visits the hospital to talk to Hyung-sik about Jeong-woo and his mother. Na-kyeom tells Hyung-sik that she used to volunteer at the hospital when she was in high school. A flashback shows Hyung-sik flirting with Da-eun, a high schooler.
Present-day Hyung-sik is shocked at how he does not remember a pretty girl like Na-kyeom. Assemblywoman Young-sil learns that her husband was seen with a girl – Ha-seol. She rushes to Hyung-sik’s office to meet him. There she finds him chatting with Na-kyeom. The trio chat for a bit after which Na-kyeom leaves.
Meanwhile, at Jeong-woo’s house, he tries to get Byeong-moo and Min-soo to drink out of glasses so he can collect their DNA samples. Min-soo drinks from the glass but Byeong-moo does not touch his drink. The cop gets called in at work urgently which prompts the two to leave. Young-sil asks Hyung-sik what he was doing with Ha-seol the night before and he reveals that she was a friend of Su-oh who wanted to meet him.
Jeong-woo finds Ha-seol waiting outside Gu-tak’s house. He enters the passcode to the cops house and goes inside where he finds Geon-oh in the locked room. Ha-seol and Jeong-woo help Geon-oh escape and take him away. After Jeong-woo’s friends leave, Sang-cheol collects the glass that was used by Min-soo as well as Jeong-woo’s DNA sample. He calls Byeong-moo and the rest of his team for a meal.
There, Sang-cheol sneaks the spoon used by Byeong-moo and leaves to go to the National Forensic Department. At the police station, Gu-tak and Hee-do discuss the new finding in the case ever since Bo-young’s skeletal remains were found. Byeong-moo grows suspicious of this and starts tailing Sang-cheol.
Sang-cheol manages to escape the tail and ends up submitting Min-soo and Byeong-moo’s DNA samples along with Jeong-woo’s DNA sample for an investigation of Bo-young’s underwear. Geon-oh starts apologising to Jeong-woo for what happened and he names Min-soo and Byeong-moo. Jeong-woo rushes to the hospital to talk to Min-soo in a fit of rage and is aggressive with him.
A while later, Sang-cheol gets the reports that prove Min-soo and Byeong-moo had sexually assaulted Bo-young. Byeong-moo rushes to the Forensic Department and learns that Sang-cheol has the reports that could destroy his life. He chases after the cop in his car. The episode ends with Min-soo saying that whatever happened to Bo-young was because of Jeong-woo.
The Episode Review
This episode was so infuriating to watch knowing that Jeong-woos life was ruined because of his friends committing a crime when they were drunk. We know that Gu-tak is trying to save Byeong-moo and Min-soo and adding to this, the fact that Geon-oh is struggling so much, it is clear that he too was there when Bo-young was raped and murdered by her friends.
I am pretty sure that Hyung-sik killed Da-eun and it was easy to blame the crime on Jeong-woo because of his relationship with her. We know that Hyung-sik has an affinity towards beautiful and younger women which drew him to Da-eun and now to Na-kyeom who used to look very different back in high school for him to bat an eye towards her.
The flashback scenes from the incident do not help us as viewers because we can see this changing every time a new development is made in the case. I am eager to see the mystery behind the murders unfold as the layers behind this case slowly peel episode by episode.
