Black Myth: Wukong Boss Guide: How to beat Guangzhi (and where to find him)

Black Myth: Wukong is the latest action RPG to take the world by storm, complete with some excellent boss fights and some tight gameplay. These bosses can be challenging and really test your skills to the max. Fret not though, our boss guides can help you get through even the toughest challenges that Wukong throws at you.

Where is Guangzhi?

Guangzhi is an optional boss, found in the middle of the Forest of Wolves. Specifically, in the Forest area and you can Fast Travel there from the Shrine by picking “Outside The Forest”. Once you’ve found him, approach the foe, and lets jump right into it. Here’s our strategy for defeating Guangzhi:

Guangzhi

Although optional, it’s highly recommended to tackle this boss, and tackle it early. Not only does it guard the First Bell for a Secret Boss later on (more on this in our walkthrough HERE), it also offers up some valuable rewards.

Guangzhi has a number of combos and the key to this fight is knowing when to dodge-roll through them, closer to Guangzhi rather than away from him.

It’s a good idea to dodge the first combo (Guangzhi also rushes at you with a spinning combo to begin with) and then, hit him with Immobilize. If you Immobilize mid-combo, Guangzhi will finish his move and disrupt your flow, so always bear this in mind.

You should be able to get a full Light Combo off immediately, especially if you time it right after he’s finished his combo. He also has the following attacks:

  • Slashing Combo – Guangzhi will spin three times, hitting in successive blows. Dodge roll through all three toward Guangzhi.
  • Pogo Combo – Holding his staff, three horizontal blows followed by a fourth, larger blow with a shockwave. Dodge-roll sideways and away.
  • Spinning Combo – Five attacks, all slashing horizontally and ending with a larger slash. There’s a minimal delay here. You want to dodge back and then dodge-roll through the larger slash to get behind Guangzhi. Follow up with two light attacks.
  • Boomerang Attack – Guangzhi will retreat to the outskirts of the arena and fling his weapon at you, which will return to his hand after. Don’t rush in, just keep a backseat and dodge the attack.
  • Teleport Attack – Guangzhi will rush forward twice. Sprint away and dodge-roll away from him so he doesn’t follow up with a strike.
  • Teleport Spinning Combo – This mixes up the teleporting moves and Spinning Combo. Watch Gaugnzhi’s hands and try to dodge through every attack.

Most of Guangzhi’s attacks look worse than they are. Be careful not to get burned though, and if you do, then roll constantly to extinguish the flames.

Try and stay on the offensive and certainly watch out for the worst attack Guangzhi has in his arsenal. This sees Guangzhi back up then launch across the arena, slamming down with a shockwave attack and then numerous slashes after. If you get hit with the first splash attack, this will do serious damage as you’ll struggle to avoid the other slashes.

Stay on the attack and although it may take a few goes, you’ll eventually get him down.

Rewards:

PS: Be sure to touch his staff after he’s dead, and you’ll grab 1x Red Tides, which is a super useful spell to use.

Final Tips

Guangzhi has some tough strikes, and the fact it can inflict Burn is a bit of a pain. However, it does have obvious weaknesses you can exploit, especially using the above tips. When you defeat Guangzhi, you’ll gain 700x Experience Points, 524X Will, 1x Stone Spirit. And just like that, the fight will be done!

Beating Guangzhi is a solid effort and hopefully the guide above should make your life a little easier. Have you beaten this boss? Got some tips that we’ve missed off from this guide that we should include? Let us know in the comments below!
