Black Myth: Wukong Boss Guide: How to beat Bullguard

Black Myth: Wukong is the latest action RPG to take the world by storm, complete with some excellent boss fights and some tight gameplay. These bosses can be challenging and really test your skills to the max. Fret not though, our boss guides can help you get through even the toughest challenges that Wukong throws at you.

Bullguard is a compulsory boss found in the Forest of Wolves area. This is the first boss fight you’ll be tackling in the game, so lets jump right into it.

Here’s our strategy for defeating this boss:

Bullguard

With no spells to cast, Bullguard can look like a daunting foe. First thing’s first, lock on with your right analog stick. Make sure you continue to circle Bullguard as you want to strike at the opportune time.

Light Combos are easier to pull off than a Heavy Attack, but the latter does more damage, so you’ll have to weight up which is best for you. Personally, Light Combos allow more flexibility, especially coupled with good stamina stats, so we usually opt for this.

Bullguard has a few attacks to watch out for, which are as follows:

  • Three Combo Strike – Two slashes down and a third where he jumps and strikes you
  • Rush Strike – Bullguard charges over and slams the axe down
  • Swiping Combo – Three hit combo  with one horizontal to the left, then the right, then a third down.

These are the three main ones to watch out for, and the best time to hit is after the third hit with the jumping strike, and the swiping combo.

While you can hit it after it rushes at you, the recovery is quicker than the other two. If you manage to nail an entire Light Combo (which ends in a Heavy strike anyway) you’ll manage to stagger it down.

Eventually a cutscene will trigger where we’ll be able to use our first spell – Immobilize. Feel free to use this at any time to score a bonus Combo. And be sure to use your Roll to dodge through those attacks. If you can get behind Bullguard then that’s a bonus. Eventually, it’ll go down.

Final Tips

Bullguard isn’t too challenging and it does have obvious weaknesses you can exploit, especially using the above tips.  When you defeat the Bullguard, you’ll gain 388x Will, 1x Stone Spirit and 482x Experience Points. And just like that, the fight will be done!

Beating the Bullguard is a solid effort and hopefully the guide above should make your life a little easier. Have you beaten this boss? Got some tips that we’ve missed off from this guide that we should include? Let us know in the comments below!
