Bird Box Barcelona is a spin-off to the 2018 Netflix movie Bird Box, which starred Sandra Bullock.
That previous title didn’t tell the story of a woman and the sacrifices she went through to feed the birds in her neighbourhood! It was a post-apocalyptic chiller about one woman’s battle to protect her family from a mysterious force that caused anybody who set their eyes on it to take their own lives.
Bird Box was a bit hit for Netflix when it was released so hopes are high for this upcoming sequel.

What is Bird Box Barcelona about?
The film is set during the same timeline as the original movie and follows a man named Sebastian and his young daughter Anna as they try to survive the unseen threat that is taking over the lives of the people in their city.
The official synopsis is as follows:
After a mysterious force decimates the global population by causing all who see it to take their own lives, Sebastián and his daughter, Anna, navigate the desolate streets of Barcelona. As they form an uneasy alliance with other survivors and make their way toward a safe haven, a threat looms that’s even more sinister than the unseen creatures.
Will Sebastian and his daughter make it to the end of the movie unscathed? All will be revealed when the movie hits its expected release date.

Bird Box Barcelona will be released on Netflix on July 14, 2023.
Who is in the Bird Box Barcelona cast?
Mario Casas plays Sebastian, the man trying to protect his daughter from the threat that has taken up residence in Barcelona. His previous acting credits include mystery-thriller series The Innocent, which is also available on Netflix, and crime drama The Paramedic, which is also on the streaming service.
Alejandra Howard (The Wasteland) plays Sebastian’s daughter, Anna, and the supporting cast includes Georgina Campbell (Barbarian), Diego Calva (Babylon), Michelle Jenner (Julieta), and Patrick Criado (Money Heist).
Who directs Bird Box Barcelona?
The movie has been directed by David and Alex Pastor, the filmmaking brothers who previously collaborated on Carriers and The Last Days, two other thrillers that centred around a terrifying event that threatened the survival of humanity.
